The Kansas City Chiefs fell to 2-3 after a last-second loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and defensive tackle Chris Jones bears some of the responsibility for the loss. Jacksonville was down four with 30 seconds left in the game, but at Kansas City’s one-yard line. The defense needed to make a play, but they ultimately couldn’t come through.
Trevor Lawrence took the snap, immediately tripped, but got back on his feet and scrambled in for the game-winning touchdown run. It was a heads-up play by Lawrence, but Chris Jones displayed an embarrassing lack of effort as he literally just stood and watched the former first-overall pick dash for the endzone.

Chris Jones Displays Embarrassing Effort On Chiefs-Jaguars Final Touchdown
This isn’t the first time Chris Jones hasn’t exactly left it all on the field for the Chiefs. As one Redditor notes, Jones effort this year has been “absolute ass,” and another adds that Jones “straight-up quit on the game-winning play.”
At his best, Chris Jones was one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL. While nobody could hold a candle to Aaron Donald in his prime, Jones was in the running for the title of second-best defensive tackle of the late 2010s and early 2020s. A third-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Mississippi State product made six Pro Bowls and earned First-Team All-Pro honors six times during his 10 years in the league. With his help, Kansas City won three Super Bowls and made two more.
Since entering the league, the defensive tackle has recorded 81.5 sacks, 317 tackles, 201 quarterback hits, one safety, and two interceptions.
