Update: Cowboys Trade Micah Parsons to Packers

Update: the Dallas Cowboys have traded Micah Parsons to the Packers.

Micah Parsons wants to leave the Dallas Cowboys, and recent reports suggest the Green Bay Packers are the most aggressive team in trade talks. While all 32 teams would love to have a player like Parsons on their roster, acquiring him won’t come easily. Star players like Parsons require at least two first-round picks to get, and the team landing him would likely need to give him a market-setting contract.

Twitter user “RickeyScoops” claims the Packers have made an aggressive trade offer for Micah Parsons, and the hype surrounding the move caused ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio to do some digging.

Latest on Packers, Micah Parsons Trade Rumors

According to Florio, the Packers are “interested” in a Micah Parsons trade, but nothing is imminent. While some reports indicate a deal is close, Florio’s source says the interest is “nowhere near the smoke that’s out there.” For what it’s worth, Florio doesn’t discredit RickeyScoops and even says that he “undoubtedly owns real estate on the NFL’s grapevine.”

Florio’s report makes sense. Every team in the league would love to have someone like Micah Parsons, and the Packers are in a position as a franchise to make a blockbuster trade like this. However, the Cowboys have no reason to entertain the notion right now. For better or worse, this is how Jerry Jones conducts business. We’ve seen it with CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott, and now it’s happening again with the team’s best defensive player.

This story isn’t going away any time soon, but if the Cowboys do trade Micah Parsons, it probably won’t be until later in the year. Since draft picks will almost certainly be involved, Dallas gains nothing from trading him now and losing any chance at competing in the upcoming season.
