Training camp will soon start for all 32 teams, and the New Orleans Saints enter this phase of the offseason with a low spot in the power rankings. In a recent article, Bleacher Report‘s Gary Davenport ranked all 32 teams, and the Saints came in dead last.
“There are just too many issues facing the Saints,” Davenport writes. “…There are problems on all three levels of the defense. The Saints have needed a ground-up rebuild for several years now. It looks like it’s coming in 2025.”
Saints Ranked Dead Last In Latest Power Rankings
Honestly, it’s hard to argue against Davenport’s claim. While anything can happen when the season actually begins, things are not looking good for the 2025 New Orleans Saints. It all starts at the quarterback position, where second-round rookie Tyler Shough and second-year veteran Spencer Rattler are battling for the starting job. Perhaps Shough can surprise, but Rattler didn’t do much of anything last year and guided a more talented Saints team to a 0-6 record.
Quarterbacks aren’t the only part of the puzzle, however, but the offensive weapons aren’t much better. Chris Olave is a good receiver, but he’s a walking injury risk, and Alvin Kamara isn’t getting any younger. First-round pick Kelvin Banks will help the offensive line, but this still projects as a below-average unit.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Saints secondary leaves a lot to be desired, and the front-seven isn’t much to write home about. Combine all this with an inexperienced head coach in Kellen Moore, and it’s easy to see why the Saints are at the bottom of these power rankings.
