Three Bears That Can Make the 2028 Olympic Flag Football Roster

The NFL owners unanimously voted to allow their players to participate in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. With the current flag football format, there are significantly fewer roster spots on the Olympic team than on an actual NFL team. This will force the selection process to be rigorous and cutthroat. These Chicago Bears will have the best chance of making the team.

Three Bears That Can Make the 2028 Olympic Flag Football Roster

Jaylon Johnson, CB

Widely known as one of the best corners in the league, Jaylon Johnson would be an elite selection to put on defense.

He has experience and success against top NFL receivers such as Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, and Amon-Ra St. Brown, all within his division. Those names alone should give him the resume to be a top candidate for the job.

Johnson’s physical play style and instincts in coverage often prevented the opposing quarterback from finding consistent open targets. On a much smaller field, Johnson doesn’t need to cover as much ground, which only helps him and other defensive backs in coverage.

Caleb Williams, QB

Given that the Olympic Games aren’t for a few more years, Caleb Williams can transcend into a top-tier quarterback by 2028.

His backyard play style and ability to create on the move could prove incredibly crucial in a format where speed and athleticism are rewarded. We saw countless times throughout his rookie campaign that Williams is more than capable of producing quality throws when the defense takes away his first or second options.

Williams may also have one of the more under-appreciated throwing arms in the league, as he has the ability to rip the ball with great velocity and distance like other top quarterbacks in the NFL.

Despite the lackluster results of his rookie season, Williams has the traits of a great quarterback that may be unlocked under his new head coach Ben Johnson.

Kyler Gordon, CB

Kyler Gordon would be a surprise name to make the roster, but his skill set would fit extremely well into a defensive scheme.

His speed in coverage and when rushing the passer would give any defensive coach great versatility to work with. He can line up in the slot and play coverage or even at linebacker at sit underneath and take away the shorter throws.

Considering you don’t need to be able to tackle bigger players in flag football, Gordon being lower to the ground against taller receivers would give him an advantage when reaching for flags if a pass is completed.

Gordon fits perfectly into what flag football wants from its players. Speed and athleticism will be key to winning the gold in the summer of 2028.
