Jalen Ramsey Trade

REPORT: Dolphins Set to Trade Generational Talent Ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey is one of the greatest players of his generation, but the team could trade him during the 2025 NFL Draft. Selected with the fifth-overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Ramsey established himself as one of the league’s elite lockdown cornerbacks over his nine years in the league, dominating with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, and Miami Dolphins. Despite his age, Ramsey remains a stellar player, finishing 2024 with a 76.9 PFF grade, the 10th-best mark out of 116 eligible players.

After going all-in on Tua Tagovailoa’s rookie contract, head coach Mike McDaniel and the Miami Dolphins have no choice but to explore the Jalen Ramsey trade market and free up cash. Ramsey has $25.1 million in guaranteed money this year, and any team acquiring him must pay $21.1 million of that lofty sum. This is a high price for a player on the wrong side of 30, but the following teams could roll the dice on the veteran.

REPORT: Dolphins Trying to Trade Jalen Ramsey – Interested Suitors Should Emerge

Detroit Lions

Fresh off a 15-win season, the Detroit Lions are in the midst of their Super Bowl window. After the team fell short in a postseason upset, the organization must add more talent to offset the coaching departures of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. Fortunately, the Lions have $42.3 million in cap space and seven picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, so they have the resources to trade for Jalen Ramsey. Adding a true lockdown cornerback to this secondary will only improve Dan Campbell’s unit and help bring a Lombardi Trophy to the Motor City.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers made the playoffs in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year for Jim Harbaugh’s squad. Now, it’s time for them to build on that early success and establish themselves as legitimate contenders in the loaded AFC. While the team already fortified the trenches and improved the front seven, they could use some more help in the secondary. With Kristian Fulton now on the Kansas City Chiefs and Asante Samuel still unsigned, a Jalen Ramsey trade could transform this defense from good to great in 2025.

Green Bay Packers

While he is still a part of the team, most analysts across the league believe the Packers will release the oft-injured Jaire Alexander. Alexander is still a great player when healthy, but he cannot stay on the field. A Jalen Ramsey trade would give Green Bay their lockdown cornerback and make it easier to part ways with Alexander. This team is talented, but they’ll need more help to compete in a loaded NFC North.

Jacksonville Jaguars

One of the biggest tasks for first-year head coach Liam Coen is fixing a defense that ranked at or near the bottom of almost every major category last year. While one player alone cannot fix this unit, a Jalen Ramsey trade would go a long way in shoring up the secondary. Ramsey entered the league with Jacksonville, so it’s only fitting he returns in his later years to help get Trevor Lawrence and company back on track.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens will admittedly have a difficult time making the money work on this one, but the fit is too good to ignore. Marlon Humprey and first-round pick Nate Wiggins are a solid starting duo, but you can’t have too many great cornerbacks when you share a division with the Cincinnati Bengals and a conference with the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. The team attempted to upgrade the cornerback room last year with the Tre’Davious White trade, but Jalen Ramsey has a lot more left in his tank. This team has narrowly missed the Super Bowl in consecutive seasons, and Ramsey could help take them to the promised land.
