On the same day they extended Andy Reid’s contract, Clark Hunt announced the Chiefs would be parting ways with John Dorsey. According to USA Today’s Nate Davis:
“I notified John that we would not be extending his contract beyond the 2017 season, and after consideration, we felt it was in his best interests and the best interests of the team to part ways now,” team chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said in a statement.

John Dorsey Out as Kansas City Chiefs General Manager
In his four years as Chiefs general manager, the Chiefs have made the playoffs three times, and that includes winning the AFC West last season. The Chiefs finished above .500 in all four seasons and ten or more wins in all three playoff runs.
This development comes on the same day the Chiefs re-upped with Andy Reid. While in Philadelphia, Reid had final say on football personnel matters. The terms of Reid’s new contract weren’t disclosed. With that said, the timing of the contract extension of the head coach and the announcement of Dorsey not being kept came so close together. The Chiefs, though, told Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star that they are looking for a new general manager.

John Dorsey’s replacement could be hard to find this late in the game. However, they should target people from the Belichick tree. Nick Caserio should be at the top of their list. He’s the current director of player personnel with the New England Patriots.
No matter what you think, the shoes will be tough to fill. After that success, only a Lombardi Trophy will suffice with the fans and ownership.
