Greg Robinson, the former number two overall pick has found a new home. The Detroit Lions traded a sixth round pick in the 2018 draft to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for the disappointing offensive lineman. Detroit also signed tackle Cyrus Kouandjio.

Detroit Lions Acquire Greg Robinson
A few days ago, the Detroit Lions lost their starting left tackle Taylor Decker to a shoulder injury, a torn labrum that will keep him out for the next 4-6 months. It is possible that Decker begins the season on the sidelines instead of on the field. Cornelius Lucas, Joe Dahl and Tony Hills were the primary replacement options before the trade. Greg Robinson hasn’t been a good NFL player yet, but he has started 42 games at the position, and that experience is more important than anything right now.
In 2012, the Washington Redskins sent three first round picks and a second round selection to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for the second pick of the draft and the ability to select quarterback Robert Griffin III. Now in Los Angeles, the Rams didn’t use the picks as well as they could’ve but they did bring in good players. Linebacker Alec Ogletree and defensive tackle Michael Brockers have been the two best selections and done their jobs well in the NFL. Cornerback Janoris Jenkins was another member of this draft haul but signed with the New York Giants before the start of last season.
In 2014, Greg Robinson became the last pick of the trade with the Redskins at the number two pick. He hasn’t played well at all for his career, and regarded as one of the worst picks of that draft year. However, the Detroit Lions have a strong team offensively and one of the best offensive lines in the NFC. This job will not be as difficult as it was with the Rams. A change of scenery might not necessarily make Robinson more talented of a player, but the Lions are a better team that need Robinson to show some competitive spirit and start playing the best football of his career.
