Reasons for Trade

After spending eight seasons with the Rams, winning a Super Bowl, a Super Bowl MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and receiving triple crown during his career, the front office informed him that they would try to trade him in the offseason. Kupp broke his own news on Twitter earlier this week.

The Rams have fully moved on to Puka Nacua to be their star receiver, so they feel like it is time to move on from Kupp. Kupp struggled down the stretch in 2024, scoring single-digit fantasy points in four of his final five games. He has also failed to play more than twelve games in three consecutive seasons. He is 31 years old, and the Rams can save $15 million if they decide to release him instead of trading him. Kupp’s great career with the Rams has come to an end. Kupp’s days as a true WR1 on a team are probably over, but in the right situation, he can be a productive WR2. With that being said, here are three ideal landing spots for fantasy football purposes for Kupp.

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders had an amazing season, making it to the NFC Championship game before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles. They were led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who had a terrific first season in the league. Behind Terry McLaurin, it was a weak wide receiver room for the Commanders. They relied on a combination of Olamide Zaccheaus, Noah Brown, Dyami Brown, Luke McCaffrey, and Jamison Crowder to be the WR2 on the team. This was not an elite group, and it is impressive how the Commanders had this much success without a consistent, solid WR2. Kupp would be a great addition to the Commanders’ passing attack. They are in win-now mode with a great, young quarterback in a good offense. There will be plenty of opportunities in the passing game for Kupp to succeed.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals will be one of the more interesting teams of the offseason as they have a big decision to make about Tee Higgins. If they decide to let him go, they will need a solid WR2 behind Ja’Marr Chase. Higgins had 109 targets and 73 receptions last season. There will be plenty of opportunities up for grabs in the offense, making Kupp a perfect fit for the Bengals. The Bengals are one of the best offenses in the league, with superstar quarterback Joe Burrow under center. Kupp would have plenty of opportunities in this elite offense, making the team that he beat in the Super Bowl an ideal landing spot for fantasy football.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are another team that is looking for a consistent WR2 behind their superstar WR in CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys relied on Jalen Tolbert, Brandin Cooks, and KaVontae Turpin as the WR2. Quarterback Dak Prescott will be returning from injury, so the offense should be much better in 2025. They need to add another weapon in the passing game, and the veteran wide receiver Kupp will be a perfect safety valve for Prescott.

Conclusion

The Commanders, Bengals, and Cowboys all have three things in common that make these teams good landing spots for Kupp: they need a WR2, have a great quarterback, and are in a high-scoring offense. Kupp will see plenty of fantasy success with any of these three teams.
