Myles Garrett Trade

Panthers, Chargers Among Top 5 Myles Garrett Trade Destinations

After not winning a playoff game for the past four years, edge defender Myles Garrett has seen enough and has requested a trade. As the first-overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Garrett has somehow eclipsed his insane pre-draft hype and established himself as one of the game’s top players. Since entering the league, the Texas A&M product has made six Pro Bowls, four First-Team All-Pro’s and won Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2023.

Despite all this, Cleveland has not found sustained success with Garrett on the roster. Thanks in large part to the disastrous Deshaun Watson trade, the Browns finished with the second-worst record in the NFL and have one of the league’s bleakest outlooks. Garrett doesn’t want to endure any more losing and made it clear that he wants a trade so he can play for a Super Bowl contender.

Every team in the league would love to have someone like Myles Garrett on their roster, and acquiring him will likely mean giving up multiple first-round picks in a trade. While every team will pick up the phone, these five organizations make the most sense.

5 Teams That Could Trade For Myles Garrett, Ranked

5. Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are not Super Bowl contenders in the traditional sense, but the future is bright for this organization. Bryce Young looked like the real deal down the stretch, but the team only won five games due to their abysmal defense. Carolina didn’t have anyone who could consistently get after the quarterback, but they could fix their biggest flaw with a Myles Garrett trade. The biggest issue will be if Garrett believes in the future of this organization.

4. Atlanta Falcons

While it came in a small sample, first-round rookie Michael Penix put up some great film during his truncated rookie season. Much like the Panthers, Atlanta has the pieces to compete on offense but lacks the pass rush to be a playoff team. Myles Garrett could make this one of the league’s better defenses, and perhaps the Falcons could include quarterback Kirk Cousins in the trade.

3. Washington Commanders

After recording just four wins in 2023, rookie Jayden Daniels and head coach Dan Quinn guided the Washington Commanders to the NFC Championship Game in 2024. The sky is the limit for this organization, especially since they have over $78 million in projected salary cap space. The Browns would probably prefer to trade Myles Garrett to an NFC team, and Garrett would probably love the opportunity to be a part of Washington’s rise to a contender.

2. Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears have the biggest competitive advantage in football: a franchise quarterback on a rookie contract. While Caleb Williams’ rookie season wasn’t quite as impressive as Jayden Daniels or even Drake Maye’s, he’s still the unquestioned future in Chicago. With offensive mastermind Ben Johnson taking over for the underwhelming Matt Eberflus, now is the time to go all-in on the present. Winning the NFC North won’t be easy, but Garrett could give this team the defensive firepower needed to match up with these great organizations.

1. Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers have one of the game’s best quarterbacks in Justin Herbert and a proven coach in Jim Harbaugh. These two are enough to bring the team to the playoffs, but they’ll need more help to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. With Khalil Mack set to hit free agency and Joey Bosa a probable cut candidate, this team could use another pass rusher. Myles Garrett is a perfect fit for this defense, and a trade could help the Chargers finally overtake the Kansas City Chiefs.
