Player Background:
Elic Ayomanor was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, and spent most of his younger years playing every sport imaginable. He would eventually move to New Jersey in pursuit of a Division-1 college football offer.
Ayomanor dominated competition as a freshman and sophomore, before moving to Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts where he would be a standout for the football and track & field teams.
The superb athlete set records in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash while garnering a three-star rating on the gridiron. Offers from Notre Dame, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Stanford, along with many others, came rolling in.
Ayomanor chose Stanford, and after taking a medical redshirt in 2022, the toolsy wideout made his presence felt instantly in Year 2.
He immediately served as the best wide receiver on the roster, leading to an impressive stat line for his first season as a starter — 62 receptions, 1,013 receiving yards, and six touchdowns.
Although Ayomanor’s yardage total took a dip in 2024 — 63/831/6 — it did little to slow down his NFL momentum. Now, after a storied collegiate career, the Cardinal alum is ready to take the league by storm.
Strengths/Pros:
Elic Ayomanor is chiseled from stone, boasting the requisite size to be a difference-making wideout in the NFL. He’s stout, has little body fat, and could even add more muscle to his frame.
Along with that size, Ayomanor possesses legit track star speed. As a straight-line runner, the Stanford alum builds up steam with every stride downfield. He’s a snowball rolling down the mountain.
Ayomanor also has big, strong hands, that remain reliable even at the catch point. He’s not shy about going over the middle of the field and taking a hit; the same is true on the boundary against tight coverage.
Speaking of his catching prowess, Ayomanor shows late hands on tape, which keeps his primary defender guessing while working downfield. The Cardinal standout has phenomenal ball-tracking.
He plays an extremely physical brand of football, especially as a route runner. Ayomanor gets in and out of his breaks easily, using length and strength to create space. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him be more effective in the red zone on Sundays, as well.
Weaknesses/Cons:
Ayomanor is a spectacular athlete, but his change of direction leaves much to be desired. He can spin his tires at times and doesn’t flip his hips as fluidly as others in the class.
Likewise, Ayomanor regularly dominated his competition from a physical standpoint, something that won’t be as easy to do in the NFL. He must refine his release packages and use more agility to get open.
In press coverage, there are examples of Ayomanor getting knocked off his route. That happens because he is too upright off the line of scrimmage, making him appear stiff and slower than he actually is.
While his hands are reliable and less of a concern, concentration drops did pop up on tape. However, these drops were less about form and more about Ayomanor’s eyes drifting to create YAC opportunities.

Overall, Elic Ayomanor could utilize his physical traits more efficiently in the NFL, primarily as a route runner and in short-area situations. Better leverage with his pad height would go a long way.
However, the good far outweighs the bad. Ayomanor is a dominant force in contested catch opportunities, using impeccable ball tracking and strong hands to move the chains.
His route tree is expansive for an X-receiver and he’s a willing blocker, which should earn him favor with any offensive coach on the staff.
Ayomanor has untapped potential after the catch and in the red zone, as Stanford did not properly utilize his skillset for much of his collegiate career.
The Canadian-born NFL Draft prospect is a bonafide Day 1 player and he should serve as a WR2 immediately at the next level. For some teams, Ayomanor would already be the top wideout.
