Terry McLaurin: Commanders Wide Receiver Dynasty Outlook

For the first time in his career with the Washington Commanders, Terry McLaurin had a consistent quarterback throwing him the ball. This led to him having his best fantasy season as a professional athlete. Let’s review McLaurin’s dynasty outlook for 2025 and beyond.

Terry McLaurin: Commanders Wide Receiver Dynasty Outlook

Current Performance

McLaurin recorded 82 receptions in 2024 for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns. His touchdown total was the highest of his career and nearly double from how many he scored as a rookie. It was also the second-highest number of receptions and third-highest yardage total. McLaurin significantly benefitted from having a rising superstar in Jayden Daniels as his quarterback.

From a fantasy perspective, McLaurin finished as the WR5 in standard leagues with 173.6 total points — an average of 10.9 per game. In PPR leagues, he was the WR8 with 247.6 fantasy points and averaged 15.5 per game. McLaurin dropped into the WR11-15 range when looking at points per game for both standard and PPR leagues. However, he still produced as a low-end WR1 or high-end WR2.

When you consider his preseason ADP was 63 for standard leagues and 73 in PPR leagues, it’s more than fair to say McLaurin exceeded expectations for fantasy football.

Terry McLaurin Dynasty Price

KeepTradeCut lists McLaurin as the WR25 in dynasty fantasy football and the 60th player overall. Quite frankly, this is way too low for someone of his caliber. Currently, he is slated behind receivers like George Pickens, Chris Olave and Zay Flowers. While each of these players listed are five or six years younger than McLaurin, there is too much emphasis on age compared to recent production.

Fantasycalc provides a list of all trades involving McLaurin. Most of the deals involving McLaurin see him included in a package for draft picks or players. However, a few trades show him being the sole piece. Those deals see him dealt for a pair of 2025 second-round picks, one 2025 first round pick or a player like D.K. Metcalf.

His price ranges drastically based on the perception of whether he is someone to buy or sell, but there is still a lot of value for McLaurin in dynasty leagues.

Terry McLaurin Contract and Salary

McLaurin enters the final year of his contract and is set to make $15.5 million in 2025. While he could hit free agency in 2026, the Commanders know they need to extend him. This should be one of the top priorities for the Commanders this offseason to prevent any drama going into training camp.

Any uncertainty regarding his dynasty value because of his contract should wait until closer to training camp. Now is not the time to panic about McLaurin and his contract situation.

What to do With Terry McLaurin in Dynasty Leagues

It would be naive to ignore the fact that McLaurin’s best days are behind him. However, he is still serviceable in dynasty leagues. With the Commanders having a large amount of cap space, there is the potential they bring in another legitimate wide receiver in free agency or the draft. Both options would unfortunately pull targets away from McLaurin.

Even if the Commanders sign someone like Tee Higgins, Daniels is one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the league. McLaurin’s numbers may dip slightly, but he would still be a solid WR2 to hold onto in dynasty leagues.
