After missing most of the 2023 season with an Achilles injury, Dobbins signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers to try and prove that he could stay on the field and recapture his previous form. The season was largely a success, as he beat out fellow free agent signee Gus Edwards to be the clear lead back when on the field. Appearing in 13 games while making 11 starts, Dobbins finished the year with 905 yards and nine touchdowns on 195 carries to go along with 32 receptions for 153 yards. The Chargers made the playoffs but ultimately fell to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round.

Dobbins originally entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Selected by the Baltimore Ravens, the Ohio State product immediately played a large role in Baltimore’s running back by committee. Starring alongside veterans Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards, the rookie finished his inaugural season with 805 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on just 134 carries, good for 6.0 yards per attempt.

With Ingram departing in the 2021 offseason, Dobbins had the opportunity to establish himself as one of the best young talents at the position. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL and missed the entire season. While he returned to the field in 2022, complications limited him to just eight games. In total, the running back finished the season with 520 yards and two touchdowns on 92 attempts.

Since signing his rookie contract, J.K. Dobbins has appeared in 37 games while making 21 starts. While on the field, the running back has recorded 2,252 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 429 attempts.
