The Chicago Bears are in turmoil this season as they may lose Keenan Allen in upcoming free agency to the Ravens or Saints next year. According to Bleacher Report, it may be hard to re-sign Allen on a new deal since the Bears don’t look like contenders. They’re still figuring out their offense with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. Originally selected in the 2013 NFL Draft, the veteran won multiple rookie honors and set the Los Angeles Chargers’ records for receptions and receiving yards.

Allen was hoping to establish in a new scenery after exiting the Chargers this past offseason in a trade. However, the Bears offense has been declining significantly making it harder for Allen to have success. While the Bears have offensive struggles, they fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron so they’re hoping with this move there is improvement. Allen has been quiet consistently and Williams hasn’t found him much in the aerial attack so it may be safer to let him walk to a new one that has a strong offensive supporting cast with an experienced quarterback.

The veteran has 241 receiving yards for touchdowns on 48 targets. These numbers are not translating to what he’s been able to do in Los Angeles. Allen may have injury issues which is why the Chargers let him go, but he still put up 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns. He could easily be the best receiver on a championship roster.

Extra Firepower for Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens have one of the best offenses in the last decade after signing Derrick Henry this past offseason. Everything is going right for Lamar Jackson who is utilizing every available target, including his tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely. They bought into Diontae Johnson to help Nelson Agholor in the back end but he’s been quiet. If Johnson continues to underperform, the chances of bringing someone like Allen are high.

Allen doesn’t need to produce numbers like he did in Los Angeles but enough to move the chains. Jackson needs another deep threat alongside Zay Flowers so Allen is easily the No. 2 receiver on the team. The veteran may be getting older but playing with one of the best quarterbacks should bring out prime days in him

A New Beginning

The Saints may not be the ideal fit but they’re just a couple of receivers and a strong offensive line to being a good team again. After firing Dennis Allen, the team isn’t looking to rebuild, instead, they want to build on what they have this year. Marquez Valdes-Scantling isn’t a consistent receiver and he’s more of a security blanket for Derek Carr. They should be heavy favorites to get a superstar wideout so Allen would easily make this team a legitimate wild-card roster again.

The team was on a strong 2-0 start before losing seven straight games so it’s probably a matter of moving a few offensive pieces around to get them going.

Other Suitors

Kansas City brought in DeAndre Hopkins as an emergency fill for the passing attack. He may be producing but with Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice coming back next year, they could consider another wide receiver. The Chiefs don’t have a lot of consistent weapons in their reserves so a super team like Allen, Hopkins, Rice and Brown may benefit the entire roster.

Meanwhile, a reunion isn’t out of the question for the Chargers if Allen is available to sign anywhere. The Chargers are constructing Ladd McConkey as a ferocious playmaker but receivers like Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer may not make it next year. Allen would easily be back to their top target and help Justin Herbert thrive better in the pocket.
