The Ravens, Chiefs may steal Chargers potential free-agent target linebacker Randy Gregory this season. According to a Bleacher Report, one source believes Los Angeles should sign Gregory to boost their pass-rushing unit but he should receive interest from other teams. Originally selected in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys took a chance on the edge rusher who was somewhat of a decent athlete despite the suspensions and controversies surrounding his name. However, there were some disagreements before Gregory signed a contract with the Denver Broncos on a five-year, leading to injuries hampering him from ever being a reliable defensive piece.
Gregory wasn’t as effective as other players like Jonathon Cooper and Nik Bonitto who were putting on better numbers, leading a trade to the 49ers. He made an appearance in the Super Bowl against the Chiefs last season but didn’t do enough to help the 49ers bring it home. Tampa Bay gave him one more opportunity for a new start but he was a no-show which led to his release. However, Gregory was receiving interest from the Seattle Seahawks who were desperate to look for help for their edge position.
The two sides never agreed on a contract but Gregory should find a new home soon even if it means right before this year’s postseason. The playoffs are still weeks away but teams like the Ravens, Chiefs may roll the dice on the journeyman to reinforce their defensive corps.

More Defensive Power
The Baltimore Ravens have one of the most complete offenses in a long time with adding Derrick Henry this past offseason and trading for Diontae Johnson. They have enough firepower to help Lamar Jackson win a ring but that will be up to the team’s defense who hasn’t been the same this year. Since losing Jadeveon Clowney and Patrick Queen, there are some miscues they need to address to disallow opposing offenses from scoring easy points. Every game won’t be a blowout so they need some veteran depth to help this team since they’re running short on edge rushers.
They brought in Yannick Ngakoue as reinforcements and despite not being a main contributor, he still put up five tackles and 1.5 sacks. However, the Patriots claimed him off waivers so the Ravens must add more talent to remain a legitimate contender in the postseason. While Gregory didn’t do much in San Francisco, he might be able to take on the role of helping the balance that Roquan Smith and Kyle Van Noy are looking for. Gregory might not be explosive but the Ravens could sign him on the practice for almost no money to see if he can work himself to the starting lineup
Potential Help for Mahomes?
The Chiefs have been getting bailed out the past few weeks sitting at 9-0 in the league. Bringing in a guy like Josh Uche might improve the pass-rushing group but chances are that they need all the experience and guys to remain a competitive group. The postseason is a different ballgame and Patrick Mahomes not looking like his old self may result in them depending on the defense to win to turnover the ball. The Chiefs’ defense was a crucial part of why they’ve given Mahomes more chances to drain the clock and run the football to keep contests close.
Nick Bolton and Uche should be enough to compensate the defense but they could bet on the problematic veteran to get after the quarterback. Gregory isn’t perfect or won’t make all the plays in the league anymore but he could plunge and make the opposing offense’s life harder
