Fantasy Football 2024: Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 11

Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 11: Veteran quarterbacks step up with favorable matchups, but flex-caliber running backs aren't quite ready to start.
Start 'Em Sit 'Em Week 11

The push for the playoffs continue in fantasy, and each week’s result shapes the postseason even more. Some of you will be looking to clinch spots in the next week or two while others know it’s going to be a fight until the very end. Here are the players to pay attention to for Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 11.

Last week’s Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em wasn’t the best for success rates, but there were still some good selections. Starting Tyrone Tracy and sitting Tony Pollard were the best hits while sitting Courtland Sutton and Jauan Jennings were the biggest misses.

Note: This article is for players who are considered flex options or for matchup-specific reasons. You won’t see players like Christian McCaffrey and Lamar Jackson on here because they should be starting all the time.

Fantasy Football 2024: Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 11

Quarterbacks

Start: Justin Herbert

Justin Herbert didn’t have to throw the ball much last week in the win over Tennessee, but he still found a way to throw for a touchdown and run one in. With a good matchup this week against the Bengals, he’s in a prime position for another Top-10 finish. The Bengals secondary has struggled for much of the season, and Herbert isn’t afraid to sling the ball downfield.

Sit: Anthony Richardson

With Anthony Richardson coming back into the starting lineup this week, he’s drawn a lot of attention in the fantasy world. However, this isn’t the matchup to play him. Even though the Jets aren’t the best team, Richardson wasn’t very good prior to being benched. Richardson’s fantasy owners will want to justify playing him, but this isn’t the week to do it. Expect a low-scoring slugfest from the game that got pulled from Sunday Night Football.

Start: Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is officially cooking for the Steelers offense. He had another strong showing last week against the Commanders after a slow start. Now, he gets to face the worst pass defense in the league. The Ravens are the best against the run, so Pittsburgh’s game plan should be pass heavy. Kyle Hamilton isn’t playing for Baltimore which takes that secondary from bad to worse.

Running Backs:

Start: David Montgomery

David Montgomery should be starting almost every week, so this is mostly just reassurance. Detroit moves the ball very efficiently, and the Jaguars defense struggles in the redzone. Jacksonville concedes a touchdown 61% of the time their opponent gets inside the 20 yard line. Short yardage situations and scoring touchdowns are the Montgomery special, and he should capitalize on Sunday.

Sit: Audric Estime

Audric Estime led the Broncos with 14 carries and 53 yards in the loss to Kansas City last week, but it’s hard to start him this week. Atlanta has conceded an average of 58 yards in its last three games to lead running backs, and none of them have gone above 75 yards (Rico Dowdle). While it appears Estime is the main running back now in Denver, this isn’t the week to start him.

Sit: Tyjae Spears

Tony Pollard is banged up, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to roll with Tyjae Spears. It looks like it will be a 50/50 split on carries in Tennessee, and that’s the best case scenario for Spears. He’s shown flashes of greatness this year, but it’s not enough to play him in a flex spot just yet.

Wide Receivers:

Start: Cedric Tillman

Cedric Tillman has stepped up with Amari Cooper leaving for Buffalo. In the three games since the trade, he has finished with at least six receptions and 75 receiving yards in all of them. Even in standard leagues, he’s been a top 20 receiver in Weeks 8-10. With the Saints having a depleted secondary, expect his success to continue as Jameis Winston will look for a bounce-back performance.

Sit: Quentin Johnston

Even with projecting Herbert to have a strong game, there’s uncertainty about Quentin Johnston. The Chargers didn’t throw much in Week 10, but he still only received an 11.1% target share. Johnston has also been very “boom or bust” this season (and most of his career actually). There’s a lot of talent somewhere inside Johnston, but he and Herbert aren’t on the same page just yet.

Start: DeAndre Hopkins

DeAndre Hopkins didn’t have the best game against the Broncos, but touchdowns were hard to find in that game from either team. Kansas City has a favorable matchup this week against Buffalo’s secondary. While the Patrick Mahomes/Travis Kelce connection has been reignited, Hopkins is the new WR1 in town.

Tight Ends:

Sit: Pat Freiermuth

Pat Freiermuth hasn’t had the season anyone expected him to with Arthur Smith calling plays. With Wilson under center, his usage has declined even more. He hasn’t seen more than three targets in a game since Week 4. Freiermuth can post decent numbers if he scores a touchdown, but the opportunity for that is few and far between.

Start: Tucker Kraft

Everyone knows by now that the Bears secondary is no joke. Jordan Love is going to be the next quarterback who sees that firsthand this season. As a result of downfield options like Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs being taken away, Love will need a security blanket. Kraft may be better suited for PPR leagues, but he’s still someone you could use in a pinch for standard leagues.

Bonus Start: Dawson Knox

Dalton Kincaid is banged up with a knee injury. While it’s still early in the week and a lot can change between now and Sunday, keep Dawson Knox on your radar. He’s worth playing if Kincaid can’t go against the Chiefs.
