Fantasy Quarterback Choices to Replace Dak Prescott

With Dak Prescott all but done for the year and the Cooper Rush/Trey Lance disaster unfolding, fantasy managers need a new quarterback.
Dak Prescott new quarterback

Fantasy football players who owned Dak Prescott will be searching for a permanent starting quarterback for the remainder of the season and possibly the playoffs. Prescott missed Week 10 against the Eagles, but it’s confirmed now he’s done for the season. Fantasy managers were able to make do for one week before looking for a long-term option.

If there was any optimism about being able to replace Prescott with Cooper Rush or Trey Lance, that quickly faded. Neither of them have the ability to be a starting quarterback in fantasy football. However, there are three options for you to choose from who are available in at least 45% of all leagues.

Note: Even if you have a viable backup who has already had his bye week, it still may be worth picking up a second quarterback.

Fantasy Quarterback Choices to Replace Dak Prescott

Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers

Russell Wilson might not be the flashiest fantasy quarterback option, but he can still produce solid numbers. In just his three weeks as a starter, he’s produced two top-10 fantasy quarterback performances. He’s totaled three touchdowns in two of his three starts which will help fantasy managers trying to replace Prescott.

Wilson doesn’t have the rushing ability he once did, but he can still sling it when necessary. He has one of the easier remaining schedules for fantasy quarterbacks with just two difficult matchups left (Chiefs and Eagles). Wilson is currently owned in just 22% of Yahoo fantasy leagues and 40% of ESPN fantasy leagues. He could finish as a top-15 fantasy quarterback if he continues on his pace of 19 fantasy points per game.

Bo Nix, Denver Broncos

If Bo Nix is available in your league, grab him now. Through 10 weeks of the season, Nix is currently QB9 among all fantasy quarterbacks. He’s averaging 17.2 fantasy points per game and has transformed the Broncos offense. While Nix is able to move the ball with his arm, he can move it with his legs when necessary as well.

He was underrated coming into the season because nobody knew what to expect. Give credit to Sean Payton though for trusting and believing in his young quarterback. Nix has a slightly easier schedule than Wilson with just one difficult matchup left in the rematch against Kansas City. Given his current trajectory, he’s on track to finish as a top-10 fantasy quarterback and may even surpass Brock Purdy. Nix is currently owned in 33% of all Yahoo fantasy leagues and 51% of all ESPN fantasy leagues.

Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith is about as steady as they come for a fantasy football quarterback. Through nine games so far this season, he has five weekly finishes in the top 10 for fantasy quarterbacks. Smith isn’t afraid to sling the ball downfield either as shown by his four games this season with 300+ passing yards. The Seahawks love throwing the ball which sets up Smith for plenty of opportunities.

The only downside to Smith is he has a tougher schedule the rest of the way. The 49ers, Jets, Vikings and Bears have strong defenses that will make it tough to start him on a weekly basis. With that in mind, Smith would work best in a streaming environment. He is currently owned in 54% of all Yahoo fantasy leagues and 51% of all ESPN fantasy leagues.
