Here is how the Baltimore Ravens or Los Angeles Chargers may trade for 17-touchdown running back, Kendre Miller.

The Baltimore Ravens or Los Angeles Chargers may trade for 17-touchdown running back, Kendre Miller if he continues to underperform at training camp. According to a report, a source suggested that the Dallas Cowboys should try to trade for a running back before this upcoming season and they believe Miller could come at a cheap cost. Miller is finding himself at the bottom of the Saints’ depth chart behind Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams so a trade could make sense if they want something in return. He was only able to see sporadic playing time, posting 156 rushing yards and one touchdown while appearing in just 20% of offensive snaps.

The Cowboys would represent some competition for Miller since they’re lacking a lot of running backs that are viable this upcoming season. There has been little excitement around the Saints training camp and Miller isn’t making much noise since injuring his hamstring on the first day of practice. Fans have been anticipating what he could do off of a momentum rookie season he was having last year but that all might fall short. Head coach Dennis Allen is already sending a brutal message to Miller, stating that he needs to remain healthy if he wants to stay on the team.

It seems like Miller entering his second year isn’t stopping the Saints from considering shipping him off to the market or trading. However, the Ravens are one team that needs a backup running back behind Derrick Henry since Keaton Mitchell is on the PUP list. It wouldn’t be wise to send Henry on his own to carry all the snaps. Jim Harbaugh wants to build a strong running game for the Chargers but J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards’s history of injuries won’t help their campaign.

Other Potential Trade Fits

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are entering one of the most interesting seasons coming up with questions still at the wide receiver position. However, they still need to solve what they’re going to do with their running backs since Isiah Pacheco looks to be their only reliable man. Clyde Edwards-Helaire provides some upside but he hasn’t been doing anything special to keep this offense. It would make sense for the Chiefs to create some competition in the backfield so one thing could ensure that is adding someone for cheap like Miller.

He wouldn’t be costly for the Chiefs since they’re recovering from salary cap issues already after releasing L’Jarius Sneed this offseason. A lot of questions are still surrounding why the team didn’t bring back Jerick McKinnon who was outperforming Edwards-Helaire last year. It seems like they trust Edwards-Helaire being their backup but Miller shows he needs a reset and Kansas City is a no-brainer destination for that.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers still have a deep group of running backs despite Rashaad Penny retiring this offseason. Surprisingly, he made that decision but it shouldn’t worry fans much. However, there shouldn’t be any satisfaction on the depth chart for this group since Miles Sanders has been disappointing. Jonathan Brooks is coming in on his first year so it’s smart for Dave Canales to bring in a homegrown player to build around this backfield.

Miller would be in a perfect position for this since he’s still very young and has many years to establish himself as a potential third-string or backup in the league one day.

Houston Texans

It’s never too late for the Texans to start thinking about improving their backfield after doing a nice job of getting a legit supporting cast for C.J. Stroud this offseason. Joe Mixon is coming in who might end up as the starter for the team but there seems to still be a lack of weapons behind. Dameon Pierce has been a few trade rumors this offseason so if he moves on then it would be smart for the Texans to consider trading someone for cheap like Miller to help accommodate Mixon. It would be a no-brainer replacement to help Mixon if Pierce moves so he could finally get some sort of spotlight while working with Stroud.
