The Los Angeles Chargers or Baltimore Ravens may shockingly trade for 16-sack edge rusher, Azeez Ojulari. According to a report, the Giants may move on from one of their edge rushers since they were able to trade for Brian Burns which spells trouble. The Athletic suggests that Ojulari is entering a murky season in his fourth year with the Giants so he’s been going down the depth chart and it doesn’t look like he’ll be around longer. However, the leverage is not on his side after he had a quiet spring with reps limited in some practices.

It doesn’t look easy for the Giants to see where Ojulari fits in this team since he doesn’t have experience as an interior pass rusher. The source did say it does make sense to keep him around who only has a $2.2 million cap hit in the final year of his rookie contract. A trade isn’t out of the question since they’re not looking to completely get rid of him and there may be some suitors that may become an interest.

As long as Ojulari stays healthy on the field then he can fit in with any roster that’s looking for depth at the edge rushing position. It’s been an issue for him since he’s been dealing with injuries since entering the pros so those have been forcing him to miss 16 games over the last two years in the league. The Chargers surprisingly need an edge rusher even though they have Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa coming back. Nothing lasts forever since they may demand pricey contracts.

The Ravens have Kyle Van Noy and Roquan Smith but they’re missing someone opposite of this defense since Jadeveon Clowney’s departure. Ojulari could fill that role as a cost-effective replacement.

Other Potential Trade Fits

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys don’t have a lot of power on their defense since losing key starters like Dante Fowler Jr., Dorance Armstrong and Leighton Vander-Esch. Dallas was only able to respond by signing Eric Kendricks and UFL standout Willie Harvey Jr. but that isn’t enough for a team that wants to go back to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys have no choice since they’re trying to extend Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. However, Kendricks can’t do it alone to pressure the quarterback and their offense so they need a youth like Ojulari to reinforce their corps.

He wouldn’t be a burden to the salary cap so it shouldn’t be a question as to why the Cowboys wouldn’t bring him in. Dallas hasn’t been able to make a splash trade so this is something that would be surprising for many fans. Ojulari has plenty of years ahead of him and the team is getting younger so it’s a fit.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have one of the most astonishing defenses that everyone has high expectations for. Chris Jones is coming back on a mega contract so that means Kansas City’s defense is going to be great for a while. However, Nick Bolton, Drue Tranquill and Leo Chenal have big shoes to fill at the linebacker position. Ojulari would fit in that scheme to boost the competition and bring a youthful core potential that may become a strong force.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers may have been doing some work after getting a strong supporting cast for Bryce Young. However, Diontae Johnson wasn’t their only acquisition so they brought in Jadeveon Clowney to help alongside Shaq Thompson. Ojulari isn’t anything like them but he provides youth support that can supplement for the long-term future.
