Richardson’s fantasy football impact was brief but mighty. While he left his fourth game of the season with the shoulder injury that ruined his rookie year, he averaged 23.1 fantasy points in his first three games. Richardson’s average could have been higher if he didn’t suffer the concussion against Houston in week 2.
In his three full games, he averaged one touchdown pass per game and 1.3 rushing touchdowns per game. Richardson showed very early on his ability to be a dual-threat quarterback. He seemed a bit too reliant on his feet at times in his four starts, and some will say that was what caused his injury. Some of that was probably nerves, and he’ll run less as he gets more comfortable throwing.
2024 Projection
One stat fantasy football owners will love is his points per snap. According to FantasyPros, Richardson finished 2023 with 0.43 fantasy points per snap. To put that into perspective, Josh Allen led all qualified quarterbacks last year with 0.36 points per snap. If healthy for a full season, Richardson has the potential to shatter Allen’s number from 2023.
Barring any injuries, Richardson should be able to produce a very similar number this season. The Colts have been cautious with Richardson this offseason, and his arm has not suffered at all. Richardson should be able to produce 20+ fantasy points per game with ease this fall. With a talented group of wide receivers containing Michael Pittman, Alec Pierce and rookie Adonai Mitchell, Richardson won’t have an issue finding someone to be on the receiving end of his passes.

Even with only four games to analyze, Richardson is getting the attention of fantasy owners early in drafts. FantasyPros shows him holding an average ADP of 48, with his earliest pick being at 29 and his latest at 112. While the range is very wide for the former Florida quarterback, he very rarely lasts beyond rounds 5-6.
The lack of data isn’t something to worry about for Richardson. Breece Hall didn’t play much in 2022, and he was one of the best running backs in fantasy football last year. When you look at Richardson’s dual-threat ability, there’s no doubt he can be one of the best at his position in 2024.
Richardson won’t be the first quarterback off the board in drafts, as Patrick Mahomes will claim that title more often than not. When quarterbacks start flying off the board, though, that is the sign to go ahead and grab Richardson. He is considered by many as a “dark horse” fantasy football candidate and could be your league winner.
