Five-year NFL veteran running back Tony Pollard has signed a new contract with the Tennessee Titans. Pollard, a former fourth-round pick and one-time Pro Bowler, spent the entirety of his career with the Dallas Cowboys.

After spending the first four seasons of his career splitting carries with Ezekiel Elliott, Tony Pollard finally had a chance to be a full three-down starter for the Dallas Cowboys. While the running back survived to the end of the season, he did not play up to his previous standards. Starting all 17 games, Pollard finished the season with 1,005 yards and six touchdowns on 252 carries (4.0 yards per carry) while adding 55 receptions for 311 yards in the passing game. Pollard helped the Cowboys win the NFC East crown, but Dallas ultimately fell to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round.
Tony Pollard originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the Dallas Cowboys, Pollard joined the team right as incumbent starter Ezekiel Elliott was holding out for a new contract. Said holdout continued into the preseason, and some believed that Pollard could become a surprise starter. However, Elliott and the Cowboys came to terms on a long-term deal, and Pollard spent his rookie season as a backup. Appearing in 15 games, the rookie recorded 455 yards and two touchdowns on 86 attempts.
Despite Elliott’s presence, Pollard continued to earn a larger role in the backfield as the years progressed. By the time he entered the final year of his contract, Tony Pollard was effectively the 1A in the Cowboys running back committee. Appearing in all 16 games while making four official starts, Pollard finished the 2022 season with 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns to go along with 39 receptions for 371 yards and three additional scores. This impressive campaign earned him his first Pro Bowl nomination, and the Cowboys used the franchise tag to retain his rights following the season.
Since signing his rookie contract, Tony Pollard has recorded 3,621 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on 762 attempts (4.8 yards per carry).
