The 2023 NFL trade deadline is quickly approaching and many teams like the Dallas Cowboys are looking to improve the team. Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones said it himself, he’s willing to extend a hand for improvement. Despite not wanting to initiate the talks, it doesn’t mean he won’t give it a shot. It would make sense for them to make some serious moves now sitting at (4-2) with the Eagles and 49ers sitting atop the NFC.
Jerry Jones went on to explain how he wants to add to the roster, “I would really extend to improve our team right now, so that gives you an idea. Because I think we have a team that’s a contender. Would I do something that would take away from this team so that it could help us in the future? Possibly not.” Jones is always as mysterious as any trade that can bombshell NFL media and change the landscape of the Dallas Cowboys. Considering that it’s been 27 years since the last the Cowboys went to an NFC Championship game, the time is now. As much attention and criticism the Dallas Cowboys have been receiving, it’d be fair to give the media something to talk about.
Here are three different positions that are needed for the Cowboys; Cornerback, Linebacker and Wide Receiver. So, these three different trade candidates can fill in those holes for the team before the deadline.

3 Top Trade Candidates for the Dallas Cowboys Before Deadline
Kristian Fulton
There’s no such thing as having too many defensive ends in the league. When Trevon Diggs went down with a season-ending injury, it was a nightmare episode for Cowboys fans. Besides DaRon Bland stepping up, they are left with Stephon Gilmore and Jourdan Lewis at Nickel. However, the CB room looks promising but may not be enough to win a playoff game.
They have Eric Scott Jr., Noah Igbinoghene and Nahshon Wright in that room. While Scott has yet to be active this season and Igbinoghene mainly plays special teams, Wright seems to be the only promising backup. However, he just returned from IR so he may be rusty. The Cowboys are one injury away from disaster, and they indeed need to make a move to add depth to avoid an aftershock.
Fulton seems like a realistic option as there had been mentions of a dream scenario of sending Patrick Surtain II to Dallas. Tennesse has been trigger-happy with the trades they have been making. Giving away Julio Jones and Kevin Byard to the Eagles, Jerry better pick up that phone because the Titans seem very generous this season. Despite the disappointing 2022 season he had, a change of scenery is most likely what he needs.
Jordan Hicks
The Linebacker room depth is still ridiculous and there is a glaring hole for this part of Dallas’ defense. It’s only Damone Clark and Malik Jefferson in that room. Jefferson only has six defensive in three games played. Yes, they have Micah Parsons, but Leighton Vander Esch is out yet again with an injury which gives the Cowboys doubt.
They do have safety Markquese Bell who can be elevated to fill in that hole and that’s how dry the Linebacker room is. There is fresh air needed after they caught that same breath from signing Rashaan Evans to their practice squad. He’s expected to be elevated starting week eight against the Los Angeles Rams. Other teams of course like the Eagles and 49ers have the most heavy personnel.
To match that energy, the Cowboys can bring in Minnesota Vikings Linebacker and veteran, Jordan Hicks. He has a lot of gas left in the tank. Imagine both Hicks and Evans teaming up to teach this young linebacker. This is a dream scenario, especially for Dan Quinn.
Courtland Sutton
The wide receiver room is still lacking after Michael Gallup is struggling to make contested catches and his ability to get open. However, CeeDee Lamb has been doing his thing as one of the best wide receivers in the league. Brandin Cooks is still getting adjusted to the Cowboys’ offensive system. It only makes sense to snag a wide receiver to fill their need.
Courtland Sutton is the answer after the Jerry Jeudy trade seems unlikely and dreamy. This sounds like the price that the Cowboys can afford to gain some momentum and make it more likely to snag him. You have Lamb catching the deep balls and Cooks running the slant routes. Now, you need one other receiver who can replicate the same abilities as Lamb.
