Report: Johnathan Cyprien to Sign With Tennessee Titans
In 2016, Cyprien had a very productive year. Cyprien played in all 16 games and produced a career-high 127 tackles to go along with a sack, four passes defensed, and a forced fumble. He was one of the lone bright spots of an abysmal Jaguars season.
Cyprien has been a productive safety since entering the league in 2013. In his rookie year, he recorded 104 tackles, six passes defensed, a pick, and two forced fumbles. In his second season, he yet again produced 100+ tackles, racking up 114 to go along with three passes defensed. 2015 was another productive year with Cyprien getting a pick, a forced fumble, two passes defensed, and yet again having over 100 tackles, collecting 108 total. Cyprien has performed very well with the Jaguars since getting drafted in 2013.
Johnathan Cyprien has never been discussed as a top safety in the league, but he’s always been productive and he really helped himself with a strong 2016 season. He’s still young and durable, as he’s never played less than 14 games in a season for his career.
Cyprien was born and raised in North Miami Beach, Florida where he played his high school football. Cyprien then played for the Florida International University Panthers football team from 2009-2012 where he was a two-time second-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection in 2010 and 2011, and a first-team All-Sun Belt selection in 2012. Cyprien was drafted with the first pick of the second round, 33rd overall, in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
