Predicting Every Game on the Dallas Cowboys Schedule

The NFL has released the Dallas Cowboys schedule, and the 2023 season should prove to be another exciting one for America’s Team.
Dallas Cowboys Schedule

The NFL has released the Dallas Cowboys schedule, which means that fans of the franchise are officially one step closer to the start of the 2023 season. While the Cowboys fell short of their ultimate goal in 2023, the team is still loaded with talent and should be one of the top contenders in a weak NFC South.

Dallas Cowboys Schedule: Game by Game Predictions

Week 1: At New York Giants

The Dallas Cowboys kick off the 2023 schedule with what should be a comfortable win. Yes, the Giants made the playoffs last year, but they were not nearly as good as their record implied, and they haven’t improved too dramatically this offseason. Daniel Jones and company will have a hard time keeping up with the Cowboys offense in this one, especially when factoring in just how much talent is on that Dallas defensive line.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 1-0 record

Week 2: vs New York Jets

You can’t win seven games with Zach Wilson as your primary quarterback without a good amount of talent on the roster. Aaron Rodgers won’t need to be his MVP self to make this team legit, he just needs to play like a top-10 quarterback. With most of his familiar weapons paired with a budding superstar in Garrett Williams, this game should be a thrilling one that goes down to the wire. In games like this, you have to led home-field advantage be the tiebreaker, which means that the Dallas Cowboys first loss will come pretty early in their schedule.

Prediction: Cowboys lose, 1-1

Week 3: at Arizona Cardinals

With or without Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins, this team is going to have a rough time in 2023 . The rebuild is here, and barring a colossal upset, the Cowboys should be walking out of the desert with a comfortable win.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 2-1

Week 4: vs New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have fallen off quite a bit ever since Tom Brady decided to go to Florida. While Bill Belichick has built a solid defense, this offense is going to be bad, and in todays NFL, good offense beats good defense far more often than not.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 3-1

Week 5: at San Francisco 49ers

This is the hardest game to project on the Dallas Cowboys schedule, largely because we don’t know who the quarterback will be. Brock Purdy is the most likely candidate, but who knows if he’ll be completely healthy this early into the season. Both teams have complete rosters, but with the uncertainly surrounding San Francisco’s quarterback situation, the Cowboys get the edge here.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 4-1

Week 6: at Los Angeles Chargers

The Dallas Cowboys schedule just keeps getting harder with a matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Old friend Kellen Moore has replaced Joe Lombardi, which means that Justin Herbert will probably have a career season. The Chargers defense isn’t exactly the 1985 Bears, so this should be a shootout, but the edge goes to the better quarterback playing at home.

Prediction: Cowboys lose, 4-2

Week 8: vs Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams went all-in for their Super Bowl. Now, the bill came due and this team is staring down an ugly rebuild. It shouldn’t shock anyone if they only win four or five games next year.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 5-2

Week 9: at Philadelphia Eagles

Arguably the two best teams in the conference face off for what should be an incredible match that will likely determine playoff seeding and the NFC South champion. The Eagles have a marginally better roster with a stronger coach, and when you include home-field advantage, it’s hard to see the Cowboys leaving Philadelphia with a win.

Prediction: Cowboys lose, 5-3

Week 10: vs New York Giants

The hard part of the Dallas Cowboys schedule is over, which means that they’ve earned a comfortable victory over the New York Giants. As mentioned earlier, this team will take a major step backwards in 2023, and the Cowboys should be able to get back on track by sweeping their division rival.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 6-3

Week 11: at Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young is an exciting prospect, but he is just a rookie, and the Carolina Panthers roster needs a few more pieces before they’re ready to compete with an NFC juggernaut like the Cowboys.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 7-3

Week 12: vs Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders don’t have the best roster in the league, but there are some pieces here. The defense can get after the quarterback, and the wide receiver trio of Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Curtis Samuel is one of the best in the league. The real question mark here is Sam Howell. Washington feels comfortable with him leading the team in Year 2. Only time will tell if that’s a wise decision, but even if he is good, it’s hard to imagine him coming into Dallas on Thanksgiving and pulling out a win.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 8-3

Week 13: vs Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith came back to Earth in the back half of the 2022 season, but he’s still a solid starter that can succeed in the right environment. Seattle has surrounded their quarterback with three good playmakers and a decent defense, so they should be a 10-win team. That being said, it’s still not good enough to beat the Cowboys at home.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 9-3

Week 14: vs Philadelphia Eagles

Top to bottom, there is a strong case to be made that the Philadelphia Eagles have the best roster in football. However, the Cowboys aren’t too far behind. This storied rivalry has never been better, and while this game could go either way, we’ll let home-field advantage decide this one.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 10-3

Week 15: at Buffalo Bills

Nobody wants to face a healthy Josh Allen, especially in Buffalo. While the core of this team is getting older, they should have one or two more elite seasons left in their tank. There is a case to be made that the Bills are the best team in football, and the Cowboys will have a difficult time walking into that stadium and leaving with a victory, especially since this game is going to be played in December.

Prediction: Cowboys lose, 10-4

Week 16: vs Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions are everyone’s favorite up-and-coming team, but they really shouldn’t be. After going 8-9 last year, the team has seemingly settled for mediocrity, sticking with Jared Goff and selecting a running back and inside linebacker with their two first-round picks. The Lions will be above-average next year, but they’re not a top-10 team like the Cowboys.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 11-4

Week 17: at Miami Dolphins

The Cowboys will have their hands full trying to take care of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Fortunately, the Dolphins defense will have an equally hard time slowing down Prescott, Lamb, and Brandin Cooks. Expect a high-scoring affair that ends in a Cowboys win.

Prediction: Cowboys win, 12-4

Week 18: at Washington Commanders

For the sake of this argument, we’re going to assume that both teams have something to play for in the season finale. As mentioned earlier, Washington has a decent roster, and as someone that believes in Sam Howell, I believe he can pull off the upset with the benefit of the home crowd.
