Emmanuel Moseley Signs Contract With Detroit Lions

NFL veteran cornerback Emmanuel Moseley signed a new contract with the Detroit Lions. Moseley, a former undrafted free agent, spent the entirety of his career with the San Francisco 49ers.

The 2022 season was a lost year for Emmanuel Moseley. Entering the season as a starter on what should have been one of the best defenses in football, the cornerback suffered an ACL injury that limited him to just five games. Still, he remained productive when on the field, recording one interception, five passes defended, 22 tackles, and one tackle-for-loss during his time on the field. The 49ers still found success without him, making it all the way to the NFC Championship Game before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Emmanuel Moseley originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft. Signing with the San Francisco 49ers, the Tennessee product didn’t make the Week 1 roster, but he did earn a spot on the practice squad. Moseley did eventually make it into a game, but he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury, limiting his rookie season to just one game.

Moseley got a clean bill of health entering 2019 and earned a much larger role on the defense. Appearing in 16 games while making nine starts, the cornerback finished the season with one interception, eight passes defended, 50 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, and one quarterback hit. This year, the 49ers made it all the way to the Super Bowl before losing to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Emmanuel Moseley only played in 12 games but still recorded one interception, nine passes defended, and 47 tackles. The 49ers re-signed Moseley to a two-year deal, and Moseley responded by recording one interception, one forced fumble, 42 tackles, and two tackles-for-loss in 11 games.
