Kareem Hunt Contract

Kareem Hunt Expected to Sign Contract With New Orleans Saints

NFL veteran running back Kareem Hunt is expected to sign a new contract with the New Orleans Saints. Hunt spent the 2022 season with the Cleveland Browns but has also played for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kareem Hunt is still visiting the Indianapolis Colts before deciding on his final destination.

With minimal usage, Hunt has been a valuable asset for each team he has been a part of. His calling card has been efficiency, often posting yards per catch and yards per carry in the top ten of the league.

The Chiefs drafted Hunt in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.  Once in Kansas City, he set his career high in rushing yards with 1,327 in his rookie year. That year he led the NFL in rushing and was selected to the only Pro Bowl of his career to date. Additionally in his rookie year, Hunt was the Pro Football Writers of America NFL Rookie of the Year award winner. The Chiefs parted ways with Hunt mid-way through 2018 after a misdemeanor assault video arose.

In 2019, the Browns signed Hunt but he began the season on the Commissioner’s Exempt list. The NFL suspended Hunt for eight games for the same incident that caused his release from Kansas City. In his time in Cleveland, he has acted as the 1B to Nick Chubb’s 1A. Due to this, he has failed to rush for more than 1,000 yards since his rookie season.

He has offered ability in the receiving game, collecting 211 receptions, 132 for Cleveland. Despite being the second fiddle in Cleveland, he is eighth in receiving yards for running backs since he entered the league. Where Hunt has really shined is in the red zone. This is where he has displayed a nose for the endzone racking up 48 total receiving and rushing touchdowns in his career. Hunt finished his second contract with 4025 career rushing yards on 895 carries.
