Seven-year NFL veteran tight end Maxx Williams has signed a new contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Williams played in only five games last year for the Arizona Cardinals.

Maxx Williams, Arizona Cardinals, Agree to Contract
The Baltimore Ravens selected Williams with the 55th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Minnesota. He was named the second tight end on the depth chart behind Crockett Gilmore to start his rookie campaign. He finished his rookie campaign appearing in 14 games, starting seven while accumulating 32 receptions for 268 yards and one touchdown. Williams missed two games his rookie year due to an ankle and knee injury and a concussion later in the year.
The next season, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh named Williams third tight end behind Crockett and Dennis Pitta. Williams only played in four games in his sophomore season, due to needing required surgery to remove cartilage from his knee. In those four games, he accumulated no catches or stats but played 18 percent of the offensive snaps.
Following the 2017 preseason, Harbaugh named Williams the third tight end once again, this time behind Nick Boyle and Ben Watson. In his third season, Williams played in 11 games, starting eight of them while accumulating 15 receptions for 86 yards and one touchdown. He missed three games with an ankle injury and another two games when he reaggravated the same injury in his left ankle.
In 2018, for a third straight season, Williams played a limited role in the Ravens’ offense. In his fourth season, played in 13 games, starting four while accumulating 16 receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown.
During the 2019 free agency period, Arizona Cardinals signed Williams to a one-year contract. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury named him the starting tight end to begin the season. On November 16th of the same year, he signed a two-year extension with the Cardinals. Williams finished off the season with 15 catches for 202 yards and one touchdown. He played in all 16 games, starting 10 of them.
Williams played nine games in his 2020 campaign, starting eight. He missed seven games due to an ankle injury that landed him on injured reserve. He accumulated eight receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown.
In 2021, a torn ACL ruined Williams’ season as he only played five games. In those five games, Williams caught 16 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown.
