Kyzir White, Philadelphia Eagles, Agree to Contract
Kyzir White is coming off a career season in which he started all 17 games, was in on 144 tackles with 90 of them solo, had one sack, two interceptions, three pass deflections, two forced fumbles, and seven tackles for a loss. He was one of the highlights of a shaky Chargers linebacker corps, and will be looking to continue his momentum going forward. He seemed to benefit from the switch to a 3-4 defense.
White played football in high school at Emmaus, Pennsylvania. He initially started in college at Lackawanna College before transferring to West Virginia University for his final two years. He was drafted by the Chargers in the fourth round in 2018. White was named a starter right away in his rookie year, but only played three games (which did include him nabbing an interception) before he suffered a knee injury which ultimately caused him to miss the rest of the season.
After only starting seven out of 16 games in 2019, he returned to a full-time starting role in 2020. That season, however, was also shortened by both Covid and injuries for him as he played 11 out of 16 games. Notably, he was in on 77 tackles, and thus was on pace to finish with over 100 as he did in 2021. Even with that shortened 2020 season, his stats have improved every year. While not a star, he has also shown the ability to play well in both run and pass defense.
Thus far in his career, White has a total of 278 tackles (177 solo), 1.5 sacks, four interceptions, 10 pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.
