After building up a reputation as one of the most reliable wide receivers in the league, impending free agent Allen Robinson had perhaps the worst season of his career. The former second-round pick hit the open market at the wrong time, but there are plenty of teams out there that should be interested in bringing in the veteran to see if 2021 was a one-year fluke.

New England Patriots
The New England Patriots have a decent collection of secondary pass-catching talent. Hunter Henry is a good tight end, Jakobi Meyers is a reliable slot option, and Kendrick Bourne brought an explosive element to the offense during the first year with the team. The only thing they’re truly lacking is a playmaking threat capable of winning on the outside. Bill Belichick loves bargain hunting, and Robinson has the potential to be the steal of free agency on a one-year, prove-it contract. With all due respect to Nelson Agholor, Robinson has the potential to be a much more valuable playmaker in any offense.

Cleveland Browns
Baker Mayfield had a season to forget in 2021, but hopefully, he can be better in 2022 with a return to health. No matter how good he is, it’s going to be hard for anyone to succeed with Cleveland’s current supporting cast. Jarvis Landry could be on the way out, which means Donovan Peoples-Jones could be the top wideout in Cleveland. That’s not good. Robinson won’t fix this issue on his own, but he could definitely help a struggling, young quarterback like Mayfield.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It’s crazy to think that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the market for weapons considering how dangerous their passing game has been in recent years. However, with Antonio Brown out of town and Chris Godwin and Rob Gronkowski set to leave, Tampa Bay’s only proven receiver is Mike Evans. Gronkowski will almost certainly be gone, and even if Godwin returns, he probably won’t be ready for the start of the season. Bruce Arians’ system requires elite talent at the wide receiver position, and Robinson could help on the outside opposite Evans.
Kansas City Chiefs
Ever since Patrick Mahomes came into the league, the Kansas City Chiefs have been searching for a reliable third option in this passing attack. Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill are elite, but there isn’t much depth beyond those two. Mecole Hardman clearly isn’t getting it done, and Robinson could easily slide into the third role in this offense. The Chiefs throw the ball more than anyone else, so Robinson should receive plenty of targets with defenses focusing on stopping Hill and Kelce.
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are likely to be in the market for a new quarterback, but that quarterback will need something to work with. Terry McLaurin is a legitimate stud, but they don’t have another reliable starter. Robinson should fit well in this scheme, as his physical style of play and larger build aligns with what Ron Rivera typically looks for in a wide receiver.
