Four-year NFL veteran running back Ronald Jones has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. Jones played in 16 games last year for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, starting three.

Ronald Jones Signs Deal With Kansas City Chiefs
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Jones in the second round with the 38th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft out of USC. Jones played in nine games his rookie season, accumulating 44 yards on 23 carries, one rushing touchdown, averaging 1.9 yards per carry. He also caught seven passes for 33 yards.
The Buccaneers altered their coaching staff in 2019, hiring Bruce Arians as their head coach and Byron Leftwich as their offensive coordinator. Leftwich utilized Jones more than Peyton Barber, who was the cowbell back for the Bucs the year prior. Jones played all 16 games, starting nine. He accumulated 724 yards on 172 rushes with six touchdowns, averaging 4.2 on the ground. He also caught 31 passes for 305 yards.
The Buccaneers received a big offensive boost in 2020 by signing former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette and six-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady. Despite the addition of the veteran running back, Jones still had a sizable role in the rushing and passing offenses. Jones played in 14 games, starting in 13. He rushed 192 times for 978 yards, scoring seven touchdowns and averaging 5.1 yards per carry. In the passing game, he caught 28 passes for 165 yards with one receiving touchdown. With the Buccaneers in 2020, he went to the NFL playoffs and won a Super Bowl ring, when they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-9. In the playoffs, Jones rushed 35 times for 139 yards, averaging four yards per carry.
In 2021, Jones did not receive as much offensive attention as the previous two years. He played in all 16 games, only starting three. He rushed for 428 yards on 101 carries, averaging 4.2 yards per carry and scoring four touchdowns. Jones caught ten passes for 64 yards. Due to an ankle injury, Jones did not play in the Buccaneers’ two playoff games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams.
