Longtime NFL veteran edge defender Chandler Jones signed a new contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. Jones, a former first-round pick, spent the 2021 season with the Arizona Cardinals and has also played for the New England Patriots.

Chandler Jones, Las Vegas Raiders, Agree to Contract
Chandler Jones is coming off yet another strong season in a career full of them. Starting and appearing in 15 of a possible 17 games, the edge defender finished the 2021 season with 10.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and five passes broken up while helping the Cardinals make it back to the playoffs. Jones’ best game of the season came in Week 1, when he recorded five sacks against the Tennessee Titans.
Jones originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Selected by the New England Patriots, the Syracuse product made an immediate impact right out of the gate. As a rookie, Jones recorded six sacks and three forced fumbles. In total, he spent four years in New England, recording a combined 36.0 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
Prior to the start of the 2016 season, the Patriots traded Jones to the Arizona Cardinals for a second-round pick and guard Jonathan Cooper. During his first year in the desert, the former first-round pick recorded 11 sacks and four forced fumbles before bringing his game to the next level in 2017. Starting in all 16 games, Jones recorded a league-high 17 sacks with 28 tackles for loss, good enough to earn him a spot on the First Team All Pro roster.
After a 13-sack 2018, Jones had perhaps the best season of his career in 2019. Starting and appearing in all 16 games, the edge defender recorded a career-high 19 sacks to go along with 11 tackles for loss and a league-high eight forced fumbles. Throughout the course of his career, Jones has recorded 107.5 sacks, 33 forced fumbles, and 118 tackles for loss.
