Odell Beckham Jr Signs Contract With Los Angeles Rams

Former New York Giants and Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr has a new home. According to reports across the league, the three-time Pro Bowler signed a new contract with the Los Angeles Rams. Beckham, of course, started the season with the Browns but was released on Monday.

After missing the first two weeks of the season, Beckham made his 2021 debut by catching five passes for 77 yards on nine targets. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from here, as Beckham and quarterback Baker Mayfield simply could not establish a rapport. Cleveland’s aerial attack struggled to do much of anything while forcing targets to Beckham, and the two sides parted ways after the trade deadline. Nobody claimed Beckham (and his $7.5 million contract) on waivers, allowing him to choose his own destination for the back half of the season.

Beckham originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Selected by the New York Giants, the LSU product quickly became one of the best receivers in the game. After missing the first four games of his career, Beckham returned to the field and took the world by storm. As a rookie, the receiver recorded 91 receptions for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns on 130 targets. This fantastic performance earned him Rookie of the Year honors.

Beckham proved this wasn’t a fluke over his next two seasons. In 2015 and 2016, Beckham recorded a combined 197 receptions for 2,817 yards and 23 touchdowns on 327 targets. Unfortunately, injuries limited him to just 16 games over the next two seasons before the New York Giants traded him to the Cleveland Browns.

During his first year in Cleveland, Beckham played in all 16 games while recording 74 receptions for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns on 133 targets. The following season, Beckham recorded 23 receptions for 319 yards and three touchdowns before tearing his ACL against the Cincinnati Bengals.
