The NFL and its players are making their way back to training camps and minicamps to begin the start of the new season. Every year, players report to camp hoping that this season, they will be the last ones standing when the confetti rains down on their heads. Each team has a select group of players that can be considered leaders both on and off the field. Choosing them, however, is a major hurdle, as identifying a leader is not an easy thing to do. Here are the three faces of the 2021 Dallas Cowboys.
2021 Dallas Cowboys: Faces of the Team
Dak Prescott
Dak Prescott is, without question, the face of the Dallas Cowboys. Once a fourth-round pick, Prescott has been among the league’s more respectable quarterbacks, despite his lack of playoff success. In his first season in Dallas, he guided the Cowboys to a 13-3 record and the top overall seed in the NFC. The detractors point towards the fact that Dallas has not won a championship since 1995, but the same team can’t win the Super Bowl every year.
Prescott is coming off a major ankle injury and watched his team finish with a 6-10 record overall without him last season. He is motivated to put Dallas back in contention within the division and conference.
CeeDee Lamb
Upon the drafting of CeeDee Lamb, fans of the Cowboys erupted in cheers that could be heard across the virtual globe. And while Lamb certainly showed a level of excellence with 935 yards and five receiving touchdowns along with a rushing and kickoff return touchdown, he has a lot to improve on. This season Lamb will have a healthy Dak Prescott at his disposal. Andy Dalton and Ben DiNucci didn’t exactly hinder Lamb’s development, but to be fair, having Prescott back under center will be a huge improvement.
The NFC East was one of the worst divisions in the league last season. But the division could be sneaky good. If Dallas wants to compete for the division and in the conference, Lamb and the offense will need to step up in 2021.
Micah Parsons
It might be weird to have a rookie be a face of the team for the upcoming season, but the Cowboys defense was terrible last year. However, Dallas is looking to improve in 2021. The Cowboys took Micah Parsons in the first round with the belief that he would provide a boost to the defense and give new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn a piece that he can implement into his scheme.

Additionally, in today’s game, teams need speed and elusiveness at the linebacker position to compete with the top offenses, including the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cowboys opening day opponent, the reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, captained by a seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback. Parsons can be a menacing presence on the defense when on the field. All he needs is the opportunity, and he can rise to the occasion and be a leader on the defense for years to come.
