Tommy Doyle 2021 NFL Draft Profile
Overview
The 2021 NFL Draft will have some mystery around it with teams receiving injury reports later in the process. Some teams may decide to trade out of this year’s draft and feel more confident about next year’s. However, teams who decide to go ahead with the draft may find gems that are not as highly profiled. One of these could be offensive lineman Tommy Doyle.
Born in Edina, Minnesota, Doyle attended Edina High School where he led his team in sacks as the team captain. He originally began as a linebacker but was changed to a defensive end. He received Preseason All-Metro League Honors and was invited to participate at the Minnesota All-Star Game. Doyle also lettered in hockey. 247Sports.com rated Doyle a three-star prospect. He committed to Miami University located in Oxford, Ohio.
Doyle was redshirted for his freshman year at university. In his true freshman season, Doyle played in five games, starting four of them, before suffering a foot injury that caused him to miss the rest of the season. During his sophomore season, Doyle started as the team’s right tackle in 10 games. The Miami Redhawks rushed an average of 159.8 yards per game, with the offensive line only allowing 20 sacks all season. In his junior year, Doyle started in 13 games at left tackle. The offensive line only allowed an average of two sacks per game. Doyle received Offensive Power Player of the Year honors. During the senior season, Doyle started in three games at left tackle. He received consecutive Academic All-MAC and First-Team All-MAC honors. Doyle opted out of the 2020 college football season but returned to play in three games. He declared for the 2021 NFL Draft.

Teams With Need At Position: Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills
Projection: Third Round
Bottom Line on Tommy Doyle
Doyle is a very promising talent with developing size and athleticism that isn’t common in larger football players. He is physical in blocking and powerful against defenders. Doyle does lose some strength when the blocking becomes more open instead of concentrated in small, explosive bursts. He will need development in some areas, but can eventually become an NFL starter with a floor of an above-average backup.
