Longitme NFL kicker Ryan Succop signed a three-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Succop is entering his 13th year in the NFL after spending five years with the Kansas City Chiefs, six with the Tennesee Titans, and one with the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Succop was the “Mr. Irrevelent” in the 2009 draft, selected 256th overall in the seventh round out of South Carolina.

Ryan Succop, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Agree to Contract
The 34-year old kicker from Hickory, North Carolina had a relatively shaky career for the South Carolina Gamecocks. He finished his career making 71% of his kicks, while also missing two extra points. Succop struggled in his senior season, converting on just 20 out of his 30 attempts. In the Sophomore and Junior seasons, Succop also punted, averaging 42.3 yards per punt. However, Succop had an excellent rookie season with Kansas City. He made 25 out of his 29 kicks, an 86.2% clip, and missed just one kick under 50 yards.
During his five-year tenure, Succop made 81% of his kicks with the Cheifs and nine kicks over 50 yards in 17 attempts. Succop continued his steady performance through 2018 with the Titans. In this five-year stretch, Succop made 86.6% of his kicks and 11 out of 19 above 86 yards. Succop led the NFL in kicks attempted in 2018, with 42, and made 35 of them for an 83.3% accuracy, his lowest in Tennessee. However, Succop had a 2019 season to forget with the Titans. He went one for six on field goals, missing all five of his kicks above 40 yards.
After being released, Succop signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Overall, Succop had a solid year in 2020. He made 28 out of his 31 kicks, just over 90%, but missed five out of his 57 extra points attempted. He was ultra-reliable under 40 yards, making all 20 of his regular season kicks. In the postseason, Succop continued his excellence. He made all nine of his field goals, including a 52 yarder in the Super Bowl. This made Succop 13 for 13 in the postseason throughout his career.
