Lane Taylor Signs With Houston Texans

NFL veteran offensive guard Lane Taylor signed a one-year, contract with the Houston Texans. Taylor spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Green Bay Packers.

Lane Taylor has been a long-time protector of Aaron Rodgers and a valuable piece of the Green Bay Packers offensive line for the past eight seasons. Unfortunately, a Week 1 knee injury requiring season-ending surgery kept Taylor out of the lineup for the majority of the 2020 season. To make things worse, Taylor had just come off of a torn bicep injury which sidelined him for all but the first two games of the 2019 season as well.

Prior to only having played three games in the past two years, Taylor was absent for only two games in the previous three years (from 2016-2018) where he was a trusted starting guard for the Packers. Playing 82% of the snaps in his 15 game appearances in 2018, he bettered that by taking 90% of available offensive snaps the year prior. His most consistent year on Green Bay’s front five came in 2016, where he played 100% of the offensive snaps and started in every game that season.

Before taking over full-time as a starting guard for the Packers, Taylor went undrafted in 2013 but was signed by Green Bay that same offseason. While spending most of his rookie season on special teams through the ten game appearances he accrued, he played in all 16 regular season games as a lineman the following season. It wasn’t until the 2015 season, where he got his first two starts late in the year, when he became an entrusted piece of the offensive front for the packers.

Taylor played college football at Oklahoma State University where he was named first-team All-Big 12 in 2012 and honorable mention in 2011. He helped his team lead the Big 12 in rushing in his first year as a starter (2009) and didn’t allow a sack in his final two years as a Cowboy (2011 and 2012).

About Bobby Duke

I have been obsessed with the NFL since I was a young boy and have always enjoyed talking anyone's ear off that would listen about any player, game, or highlight. So I figured, why not dive into conversing more about my biggest passion? My main love is writing about fantasy football: giving in-depth analysis and overviews of player matchups and projections for the upcoming weeks. However, I love reporting on all NFL-related news as well, including players, teams, and games (outside of the 'fantasy world'). I am also a die-hard Green Bay Packers' fan who believes everyone needs to visit Lambeau Field at least once in their lives (yes, I'm even talking to you Bears' fans). If you have any questions or want to start up a conversation, don't hesitate to reach out!
