Cameron Sutton Re-Signs With Pittsburgh Steelers
In the 2020 season, Cameron Sutton was part of one of the best defenses in the league with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He helped the team run out to an 11-0 start for the first time ever in their franchise history. Playing in the secondary he recorded 27 solo tackles, 3 forced fumbles, which was good for tied 13th in the league, one interception, and eight passes defended. Sutton grew into an integral member of the Steelers defense.
He went on to play in the Steelers sole playoff game where he recorded two solo tackles and one defended pass.
In the 2019 season, Sutton featured in all 16 games but did not start in any of them. He recorded one interception, one sack, and one forced fumble as his team fell to a record of 8-8. In the 2018 season, Sutton played in the season opener against the Cleveland Browns where he recorded his first-ever interception. He wouldn’t see many snaps for the rest of the year but featured in every game bar one.
The Steelers selected Sutton with the 94th pick(third-round) in the 2017 NFL Draft. They later signed him to a four-year deal. However, they would have to wait until December to see him in action. In the final preseason game, Sutton aggravated a hamstring injury and was placed on injured reserve. After A.J Green destroyed the starting cornerback for 77-yards and two scores in the first half, Sutton came in at the start of the third quarter and held Green to no catches at all. He would go on to earn his first start two weeks later in a loss to the New England Patriots.
