Cayden Green

Cayden Green 2027 NFL Draft Early Profile

There are several quality offensive linemen in this upcoming class, but none are more versatile than Cayden Green. The Missouri Tigers have quietly been one of the better programs in the SEC over the past three seasons, largely due to quality play in the trenches. Jets 2025 first-round pick Armand Membou had an impressive rookie campaign at right tackle. Green looks to be the next Missouri tackle to go in the first round. He has experience at multiple positions and is one of the best returning offensive linemen in all of college football. Where does Green fit best at the next level, and can he be the first lineman selected come April?

Background

Green was a four-star recruit coming out of Lee’s Summit North (Missouri) and was the 11th-ranked offensive tackle in the Class of 2023. He committed to Oklahoma and moved inside to guard to begin his collegiate career. As a true freshman, Green appeared in 11 games and made five starts at left guard for the Sooners. He had growing pains, especially as a run blocker, but didn’t allow a sack in 293 pass-blocking snaps. After one season in Norman, Green transferred to Missouri, where he started at guard for all 13 games in 2024. He improved his run blocking while continuing his success in pass protection. In 418 pass-blocking snaps, Green allowed just one sack and 11 pressures.

After playing mostly at guard in his first two seasons, Green kicked out to left tackle in 2025. He had his best season to date following a position change right before the season. Green started 11 games as a blindside blocker and emerged as one of the best players at his position in the country. He only gave up two sacks and seven pressures across 367 pass-blocking snaps. Green posted a stellar 89.6 PFF pass-blocking grade as a junior, good for second-best among all tackles in 2025.

Cayden Green 2027 NFL Draft Strengths

Green’s versatility is incredibly rare for an offensive line prospect. He has performed against elite competition at both guard and tackle. His frame and length should translate to sticking at tackle in the NFL. Green is excellent in pass protection and has a sturdy anchor to fend off bull rushes. He also has the athleticism needed to match up with speed rushers. Green shows good recovery speed when he’s initially beaten on a rep, and he picks up stunts well in pass protection.

While pass blocking is his strength, Green is also a more than capable run blocker. He does well at getting to the second level of the defense on zone rushing concepts. Green regularly displaces defenders to create gaps for his running back.

Cayden Green 2027 NFL Draft Weaknesses

Although Green is a solid run blocker, he can improve at finishing reps. There are times he struggles with letting defenders work inside on run plays and disrupt rushing attempts. Green can also work on his hand placement in pass protection to be even stronger in that area.

Cayden Green 2027 NFL Draft Overview

Left tackles are among the most valuable positions in football. NFL teams spend premium draft capital to ensure their franchise quarterback is well protected. While it’s up for debate who the best tackle is entering the 2027 NFL Draft, Green offers a level of versatility no other prospect does. He can bring value at multiple spots along the offensive line and is an elite pass blocker. There is some room to grow in run blocking, but Green is already capable in that area.

LSU’s Jordan Seaton and Texas’ Trevor Goosby are the top tackle prospects entering the 2026 season, but Green can catch them with another year of quality work at the position. He has the upside of a franchise left tackle in the NFL, but can easily move back inside to guard and be just as successful. Green’s draft stock is dependent on whether teams view him as a tackle or a guard. He currently projects to go in the back half of the first round, but he can elevate his stock with a second elite season at left tackle.
