Players, coaches, and fans are eager for the start of the 2026 season. John Harbaugh has taken over as head coach, and the organization is optimistic about its future. Before the upcoming season begins, the team must go through training camp and the preseason. The team will have some downtime before training camp, but Giants’ Jaxson Dart is not taking any time off.
The second-year pro is still learning a brand-new offense and wants to ensure he is ready for Week 1 vs. the Dallas Cowboys. On Monday, Giants beat reporter Jordan Raanan posted a short clip of him speaking with Dart. Raanan shared that New York’s franchise QB does not plan to take any time off this summer. He will train as much as possible ahead of the 2026 season.
Giants Jaxson Dart will not take any time off this summer
Dart is learning his second offense in as many seasons
With the 25th pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the Giants selected Dart out of Ole Miss. As a rookie, Dart appeared in 14 games for New York and made 12 starts. In year one, his former head coach, Brian Daboll, designed an offensive system tailored to Dart’s strengths. The Giants ran 76.5% of their plays from the shotgun, something Dart did well in college. During his rookie season, Daboll was fired, and the team has since found a new play caller.
Former Chicago Bears head coach and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy has landed with New York. The veteran coach is tasked with developing the Giants’ Jaxson Dart in his second season. This offseason, Dart is learning a completely new offensive system. It’s a pro-style offense with the majority of plays being run from under center. Ahead of his second professional season, Dart is seriously wanting to improve and help the team win.
Players embrace Giants’ Jaxson Dart as a leader
It did not take long for Giants Jaxson Dart to earn the respect of his teammates and coaches. While the wins did not pile up for New York in 2025, Dart’s play style and effort were enough. The 23-year-old has embraced the role of the Giants’ franchise quarterback. That involves endless hours of preparation and practice, both on and off the field. As a rookie, players gravitated toward Dart. They respected his work ethic and leadership.
Even with new teammates joining the roster this offseason, Dart has gone out of his way to make them feel welcome. He met several times this offseason to build chemistry with Isaiah Likely, Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin III, and more. Giants players in 2025 noted that Dart set a standard for the entire offense. That is something the team wants to build on in 2026 and beyond.
When and where is the Giants training camp in 2026?
For two reasons, the Giants training camp in 2026 is being held at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. First off, MetLife Stadium is hosting games for the FIFA World Cup. The team wanted to avoid logistical issues with players and coaches arriving and leaving the stadium. Additionally, the Quest Diagnostic Training Center is being renovated. That is why the Giants training camp is on the road this summer.
Training camp for rookies begins on July 23. They will meet for a multiday refresher/orientation before the entire team travels to West Virginia for the official start of training camp. Giants insider Patricia Traina reported that the team will hold closed conditioning tests on July 28. Starting on July 29, the team will hold the first of six practices open to the public. New York can embrace being on the road for training camp and use it as an opportunity to bond and become closer as a team.
