The Indianapolis Colts concluded their rookie mini camp, and their OTAs will commence on May 26th. Indianapolis has signed the majority of its 2026 draft picks, and the staff has been raving about rookie edge rusher Caden Curry.

It was reported by Colts team writer Abby Halpin that Indianapolis defensive line coach Marion Hobby spoke positively about Curry and his versatility, saying, “He’s smart enough that you can put him inside or he can stay on the edge,” Hobby said. “You always want Swiss army knives in your room.”‘
Curry, Ohio State Curry Breakdown
Curry was drafted by the Colts in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 214 overall, out of Ohio State. While a Buckeye, Curry was a contributor on their 2024 National Championship team (won in 2025), where they went 14-2, defeating Notre Dame 34-23. In his college football career, Curry totaled 111 tackles, 25 of which were for loss, and 15 sacks in four years at OSU, from 2022-2025. His best college football season was in 2o25, with 63 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks.
Curry is from Indiana, and it was reported that he spoke glowingly about playing for his hometown team, saying, “Coming back to the state and just being able to be one of the guys I watched growing up.” He also talked about his approach to whether he was drafted there or not, saying, “I’m kind of taking that mindset of, ‘It’s a job,'” he said. “Anywhere I went across the country, it’s the same thing.”
Curry, 2026 NFL Combine
Curry at 6’2 257 pounds, scored a 70 Total Score via Next Gen Stats Breakdown, which ranked 10th at the 2026 NFL Combine, taking the Production and Athleticism score. As a prospect, Curry received props for being an edge rusher with strength, but a negative was his technique. But the Colts coaching staff can help Curry’s development into a better player.
How Colts Coaches Will Approach Curry’s Development
Curry will join a Colts rookie class with players like former Georgia linebacker C.J Allen, Florida defensive linemen George Gumbs Jr., LSU safety A.J. Haulcy, and more. He’ll also be reunited with Ohio State teammate J.T Tuimoloau, as he was drafted by the Colts in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 45th overall. Curry could be a contributor and a key player in the rotation on defense, but it could take some time.
The Colts concluded the 2025 season with an 8-9 record, but at times, they were hailed as one of the better teams in the NFL with consistent winning at the beginning of the year. The Colts will take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL regular season.
