Jacoby Brissett Landing Spots: 3 Top Fits for Disgruntled QB

Arizona Cardinals veteran Jacoby Brissett is still looking for a new deal, but could request a trade before the 2026 season. The team and the QB are still “far apart” on a new contract, and it wouldn’t be surprising for him to continue to hold out from workouts. Arizona selected Carson Beck in the third round of this year’s draft while signing QB Gardner Minshew. After finally releasing Kyler Murray, Brissett was expected to take over the starting spot, which is why he’s looking for a reworked handshake agreement.

Last season, the veteran led the team since Week 6 once Murray got hurt, and even though he didn’t lead Arizona to the postseason, he put up solid numbers. Brissett hauled in 3,366 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and eight interceptions to go with a rushing touchdown to finish that campaign. It’s no wonder that he’s looking for a new deal, but the Cardinals are better off starting from scratch.

Jacoby Brissett Landing Spots: 3 Top Fits for Disgruntled QB

The veteran is turning 34 years old, and despite him still being mobile, he’s getting too old. Arizona should have a decision by June 8 once mandatory camp commences, but expect the QB to still hold out if nothing is done. At the same time, don’t be shocked if the team trades the veteran. Unfortunately, he won’t be getting much interest in the trade market, but he will once he’s a free agent.

Entering the final year of his current deal, Brissett has the right to want to stay in Arizona, but under Mike LaFleur’s new regime, there’s a chance that Beck is the starter this upcoming season on Week 1. With that, here are three teams willing to grab the veteran only if he’s a free agent.

Possible Destinations

New Orleans Saints

With QB Tyler Shough expected to start, the New Orleans Saints are rumored to trade Spencer Rattler before the 2026 campaign. The team still has Zach Wilson waiting for a bigger opportunity, but here’s where it could get interesting. The Saints could trade Rattler while keeping Wilson and acquire Brissett in the free agent market. The two veterans can battle it out for the backup spot.

It’s a hypothetical situation, but it makes too much sense. The Saints would prefer sending Rattler to a new team, as they would get a decent return. Meanwhile, the Cardinals’ QB could get one more last run in New Orleans if Shough goes down.

Indianapolis Colts

After failing to trade Anthony Richardson this offseason, the QB appeared for OTA’s, but there’s still a chance that he could be released instead. It wouldn’t be too shocking if he utilizes camp to showcase his skill set as a gateway to garner interest. If things fall flat, he may request a release from the team. Brissett used to be with the Colts in 2017, so there is a little familiarity there.

Houston Texans

It is a “make or break” year for starting QB CJ Stroud this upcoming 2026 campaign. The Texans exercised Stroud’s fifth-year option, and there hasn’t been an immediate update on a new extension. To no surprise, the team could be waiting to see how this season plays out. However, Houston extended backup Davis Mills to another one-year deal, but could they target Brissett?

It might not sound realistic given Mills’ last year, but the Cardinals QB could emerge and prove himself as a starter in the playoffs if Stroud is hurt.
