Dametrious Crownover 2026 NFL Draft Profile

Dametrious Crownover is one of those prospects who jump off the page the moment you see him. At 6’7” and pushing 320 pounds, he’s got the frame NFL teams dream about at left tackle. What makes him interesting beyond the size is his background as a tight end — you can actually see it in how he moves. He’s not lumbering around out there. Pad level is still a real problem; his hands can be inconsistent, and his timing gets off against better competition. Teams will be betting on his projection here — a late Day 2 or early Day 3 pick who, with the right coaching, could develop into a legitimate starter. Demetrius is relatively new to the position compared to other prospects, and there’s a strong sense that his best football is still ahead of him as he continues to refine his technique.

2026 NFL Draft Scouting Report

Walk into your facility and describe your ideal tackle — someone’s going to draw up Crownover. The size is obvious. But the footwork is what gets scouts talking. Tight end converts tend to carry that athleticism into the trenches, and Crownover is no different. He can slide and mirror in ways that make edge rushers uncomfortable. The catch? He plays tall. And when you’re 6’7″ and not bending your knees, a 265-pound bull rusher with good leverage is going to have a field day.

Strengths

Crownover moves really well for a player his size, and that stands out right away. He is a former tight end, and that background is obvious in his footwork. Crownover matches up with speed rushers better than most tackles, often shadowing their moves like he was playing defense on the basketball court. He generates power almost effortlessly and controls defenders once he gets his hands on them. Wingspan? Crownover has it, keeping defenders from getting into his chest.

Weaknesses

Crownover frequently plays too upright, allowing shorter, powerful rushers to get under his pads and drive him backward. He often throws wide-armed punches or misses his target. This gives defenders openings to swat his hands away and turn the corner. He has a massive frame, for sure. This makes it difficult to redirect his weight quickly, leaving him vulnerable to sudden inside counters and spin moves. As a former tight end, he still struggles with consistent set depths.

NFL Comparison: Dawand Jones

Teams With Need At Position:  Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, Los Angeles RamsMinnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Steelers,   Seattle Seahawks,   Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Projection:

Crownover is trending as a late Day 2 or early Day 3 pick, likely coming off the board in the late 3rd to early 4th round (roughly pick #90 to #110).

Bottom Line on Dametrious Crownover:

Crownover is the kind of prospect that could be boom or bust. If he cleans up his pad level, he has the tools to develop into a long-term starter similar to Dawand Jones. At the same time, an inconsistent 2025 season suggests otherwise. He may not be ready right away and could benefit from a “redshirt” year developing on an NFL bench.  A team with an established veteran at right tackle—like the New England Patriots or Pittsburgh Steelers—could be a strong fit. This would give Crownover time to grow while developing into a high-upside option for the future
