Aqib Talib suggested the Denver Broncos could make another major trade during the NFL Draft. On the Arena Gridiron podcast, Skip Bayless pressed him, referencing passed predictions, to which Talib replied, “Cmon Skip. You still don’t believe me?” As he was right about the Jaylen Waddle trade, so if anyone has any credibility regarding trade rumours, it’s him.
Now, what could that major trade actually be? The Broncos don’t own a first-round pick due to the Waddle trade and won’t have their first pick in the draft until the late second. So they don’t necessarily have a ton of draft capital to work with as assets. However, there are still skill positions on the offence that could be improved, mainly at Tight end and running back. Two names that have been linked to the Broncos are New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara and Arizona Cardinals Tight End Trey McBride. Two different players who address different needs.
Denver Broncos Trade Rumors: Aqib Talib Hints at Major Draft Day Move
Alvin Kamara (Saints, RB)
Alvin Kamara has worked with coach Sean Payton in the past, where he has seen success both in the air and on the ground, which is something the Broncos could use on a consistent basis. Being at the back end of his career, and the Saints in somewhat of a rebuild, it may not be an impossible move to make happen. There are question marks regarding what Kamara could bring at this point though. The 31-year-old put up his lowest rushing and receiving numbers of his career. Now, he did miss time, and the Saints’ offence wasn’t the most effective throughout the year, but the drop-off was pretty substantial, and it should at least raise eyebrows. With that being said, he should be a much more attainable asset, due to his relationship with Payton, and potentially wanting a new experience towards the back end of his career.
Trey McBride (Cardinals, TE)
Trey McBride, on the other hand, would be much more difficult to attain. The star Tight end is coming off the back of a career season, where he had 126 catches for 1278 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns, and is in the second year of a four-year, $76 million contract. He also broke the tight end single season reception record. The Cardinals would surely demand a ransom for one of the league’s best tight ends, and they’re not necessarily wrong to do so. The Tight End position is somewhere the Broncos have tried to address in recent seasons, but they haven’t gotten the consistency they were looking for. McBride would be a major splash that almost feels unrealistic, but Talib is confident the Broncos have something coming, and with his name being linked in recent months, as well as his hometown connection, it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.
