The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are division rivals, but the two sides might be willing to look past their differences and work out a draft day trade. As things currently stand, the Giants hold the fifth-overall pick in the draft and could be targeting high-end talents like Sonny Styles, Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, or Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate. However, this team is not one player away from competing for a title, and they could be looking to trade down and acquire more assets.
The Cowboys, meanwhile, have two first-round picks thanks to last year’s Micah Parsons trade. Unfortunately for them, the 2026 NFL Draft is widely considered to be an underwhelming class, and Dallas might not be able to secure a true difference-maker with either of their early selections. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Cowboys are one of the most likely teams to trade up in the NFL Draft, while the Giants are actively looking to trade down.
Giants, Cowboys Connected In NFL Draft Trade
Of course, the odds of the Cowboys and Giants making a trade come down to who is actually on the board. Everyone in the world knows the Las Vegas Raiders will use the first-overall pick on Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, but nobody knows what will happen after that. Chances are, the Cowboys have one or two specific players they’re targeting. If they’re not on the board, Dallas will stay put and make their normal picks.
According to the Jimmy Johnson Trade Value chart, New York’s fifth-overall pick is worth 1,700 points, while the Cowboys two first-round picks are worth a collective 2,150 points. This means that, if the Cowboys trade both first-round picks to the Giants, New York will probably need to send either a second-round pick in 2027 or something worth roughly 450 draft points. New York’s second-round pick is worth 530 points, so the two sides will need to iron out terms that are fair to both parties.
