Dylan Parham, left guard, New York Jets

Jets Find Their John Simpson Replacement With New Left Guard

The 2026 NFL league year officially starts today, and the NFL offseason has already seen some major movement. Trades and signings made before March 11th will become official as teams retool & reshape their rosters. Thus far, general manager Darren Mougey is off to a great start. With the pressure on for head coach Aaron Glenn, the Jets loaded up on defense. The team acquired safety Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins. Demario Davis is back in New York for a third stint as a Jets linebacker. Not to mention bringing in Joseph Ossai and Kingsley Enagbare for depth at edge rusher.

As for offense, the Jets turned a late-round pick swap with the Raiders into an upgrade at quarterback with Geno Smith. However, losing both John Simpson and Alijah Vera-Tucker to free agency created a gap at left guard. Fortunately, Darren Mougey was active and immediately resolved that with his latest signing. Today, the Jets agreed to a two-year, $20 million deal with former Las Vegas Raiders left guard Dylan Parham.

Coming out of the University of Memphis, Dylan Parham was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. As a four-year starter for the Tigers, Parham got experience at both left and right guard, along with playing right tackle. Due to his versatility, Parham was a top-100 draft pick going 90th overall. Entering 2022 as the starting left guard, Parham got off to a hot start. After starting all 17 games, Parham was named All-Rookie team. Since then, Parham has remained a fixture on the Raiders offensive line next to standout left tackle Kolton Miller.

In 2024, Parham was moved to right guard after rookie Jackson Powers-Johnson became the new left guard. Parham started 14 games that year and missed two games due to a foot injury. Last year, Parham was once again the starting left guard. The 26-year-old guard started 15 games last year. At 6’2″, 332 lb guard started in 63 out of a possible 68 games since being drafted. With that kind of continuity, he developed into an adept pass blocker. While he’s a weaker run blocker, playing with Josh Myers and Joe Tippmann on the interior will help.

Reunites with ex-Raiders teammate Geno Smith

With the need at left guard, Darren Mougey was wise to pick someone his new quarterback is familiar with. Last offseason, the Raiders acquired two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks. While starting 15 games for the Raiders last year, Smith was there with Parham, who helped to protect his blindside. Due to that continuity, it’s a nice advantage heading into training camp thanks to that recent chemistry. Not to mention, after playing for four seasons next to one of the league’s best left tackles in Miller, Parham will be an asset to Olu Fashanu as well. Entering year three, playing next to an experienced guard like Parham can aid Fashanu’s development as a franchise left tackle.
