Jayden Daniels’ Mom Fires Back at Coach Amid Offseason Controversy

It wouldn’t be an offseason in Washington if there wasn’t some drama of some sort. Fortunately for the Commanders organization, the players are not stirring up any trouble. But it sounds like a coach and personal friend of starting quarterback Jayden Daniels may have stretched the truth a bit about his relationship with Washington’s QB1. After an interview yesterday with John Keim, alleged personal quarterback coach Ryan Porter had shots fired at him from Jayden Daniels’ Mom, Regina Jackson.

Who is Ryan Porter?

During the interview with John Keim, Porter was described as Daniels’ personal quarterback coach. The focus of the interview was Daniel’s offseason workout regimen and his plan to pack on lean muscle to make him more durable going into the 2026 season.

“Jayden’s big thing for this offseason is to put on more body armor. He is trying to get a little bigger, faster, and stronger. Put on some more lean muscle. The guys are bigger, faster, and stronger in the NFL. His focus has been, ‘Let me get my body right.’ I think from a mechanical standpoint, there is not really much for him to focus on.”

Jayden Daniels’ Mom, however, did take kindly to Porter being described as Daniels’ personal quarterback coach. She took to Twitter and stated the following:

Jayden Daniels’ Mom On Being Overprotective

You have to wonder now if any of the information that Porter provided to Keim is true at all. Is Daniels really undergoing a physical transformation before the start of the 2026 season, or was it all just one big lie? To date, nobody from the Commanders organization, nor has Daniels, spoken on the matter. This is not the first time that Daniels’ Mom has gone into protective mode of her son. She conducted an interview that was shown on Cam Newton’s 4th &1 podcast last year, where she discussed why she is so protective of him, specifically with women who may be interested in her son.

“So, first and foremost, you know, I have a meme out there and it’s funny, so I can only laugh about it, but the whole girls comment was made first of all two years ago when he was at LSU and it was a question asked like, ‘What is your biggest fear?’ And that should be every parent’s biggest fear. That should be if you’re a star athlete and you’re a female in the WNBA, that should be your biggest fear — the men or the women — because you’re a public figure and your dollar amount is associated with your name. So you never know who really is there for you and who’s really against you. And our thing is, I want Jayden to date. I don’t want everybody to say — I’m putting on record — my son can date. He can live freely. He makes his own decisions. However, the relationship we have, he does value my opinion because when my kids were little, I did a lot for them, and my kids saw that. My father, my background, I worked too hard to allow anybody at any moment…”
