George Kittle Injury Update: Star TE’s Status Revealed For 49ers-Eagles

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has been battling an ankle injury for the past few weeks, but that won’t prevent him from suiting up in the Wild Card round. The star tight end is officially removed from the injury report, which means he will play against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday.

George Kittle Injury Update: 49ers TE Will Play Against Eagles

This news doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, as Kittle managed to play through his injury in Week 18’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. While the 49ers couldn’t pull out the win, Kittle himself played reasonably well in the regular season finale, considering the circumstances. Playing in 95% of the snaps, the Iowa product finished the night with five receptions for 29 yards on seven targets.

George Kittle has battled injury throughout the season but has been the team’s most consistent receiving weapon when on the field. Appearing in 11 games, the 32-year-old finished the season with 57 receptions for 628 yards and seven touchdowns on 69 targets.

With former first-round pick Ricky Pearsall questionable with an injury of his own, look for Kittle to be the go-to option for Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers face a difficult challenge, as the Eagles are reigning Super Bowl champions and one of the most talented rosters in football. If San Francisco wants to continue its season, it will need Kittle to be at his best.

George Kittle originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Selected by the San Francisco 49ers, the Iowa product started his career slow but eventually established himself as one of the league’s most dangerous tight ends. During the course of his nine-year career, Kittle has recorded 595 receptions for 8,008 yards and 52 touchdowns on 802 targets.
