Omarion Hampton Injury Update: Chargers RB Will Play Against Eagles

Omarion Hampton’s return couldn’t come at a better time for the Los Angeles Chargers. After entering the season with one of the most talented rosters in football, the team suffered injury after injury and is now limping towards the postseason. Los Angeles lost most of their starting offensive line, and quarterback Justin Herbert underwent hand surgery earlier in the week. While the star passer still plans to play, it’s safe to assume the team would prefer to rely on their running game against the Eagles.

The Los Angeles Chargers are also fighitng for their playoff lives, which is why it’s so crucial Omarion Hampton returns from his injury. At 8-4, the team currently holds the fifth seed in the playoff picture but only has a 61% making the playoffs. If they lose, that number drops to 50%, per NFL.com.

Even with Omarion Hampton back in the lineup, the Chargers probably won’t completely move past Kimani Vidal. Entering the season as an afterthought, the former sixth-round pick stepped up in a big way while filling in for Hampton and veteran Najee Harris. So far this season, the running back has recorded 543 yards and three touchdowns on 121 carries while earning praise from head coach Jim Harbaugh. Given his comments, it’s safe to assume Hampton and Vidal will split work as the first-round pick works his way back to full speed.
