While the Dallas Cowboys found some life in their run game with Javonte Williams, the running back unit remains something that’s still unresolved. Williams is tapering off with his production in the latest few games, but there are still several matchups left for him to make up for. Either way, Dallas needs another reliable backfield piece to help Williams if the Cowboys decide to extend him. Even though Mixon has lost a step in his career, the veteran could be a versatile weapon to power through defenders in situational moments as a backup.
The Cowboys experimented with Miles Sanders as their RB2 while rookie Jaydon Blue was developing. Blue isn’t ready, and the Cowboys are hoping he isn’t a bust similar to former Cowboy Mazi Smith, on defense. Mixon could fill the much-needed void for next season.
