Breece Hall Trade

Latest Report Shows How Close Chiefs, Jets Came to Breece Hall Trade

The Kansas City Chiefs need a running back, and Breece Hall wanted a trade. On paper, this could have been a match made in heaven, as the New York Jets sold at the deadline, sending cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts and defensive lineman Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, no deal came to fruition, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying.

According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, the Kansas City Chiefs tried to trade for Breece Hall, but a deal couldn’t go through. Per the report, General Manager Brett Veach and the Chiefs offered a fourth-round pick for Hall’s services, but the Jets demanded a third-round pick.

Chiefs, Jets Almost Agreed to Breece Hall Trade

The Chiefs could’ve used another running back, but Veach seemingly feels a third-round pick was too much to spend on a rental. With Isiah Pacheco out with an injury, Kansas City will turn to Kareem Hunt and rookie Brashard Smith for most of the season. While Pacheco should return before the end of the season, this is still one of the league’s weakest running back rooms.

Breece Hall is having arguably his best season in the final year of his contract. Despite playing on a bad Jets team, the former second-round pick has recorded 581 yards and two touchdowns on 117 attempts (5.0 yards per carry) while hauling in an additional 21 passes for 178 yards. While it’s possible New York re-signs him in the offseason, it sounds like he wants to play somewhere else, and there’s a very realistic possibility New York will watch him walk for nothing in just a few months.
