Chiefs Rookie Omarr Norman-Lott Out for the Season
The Chiefs selected Norman-Lott with the No. 63 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, signing him to a four-year, $7.2 million deal that included a $1.87 million signing bonus. The 23-year-old had appeared in five games this season, recording one sack and five tackles while playing around a quarter of the total defensive snaps.
The Chiefs planned to expand Norman-Lott’s role over the coming weeks, but his season-ending injury delays those plans until 2026. They viewed him as a key rotational piece alongside Chris Jones and George Karlaftis in their effort to replace Tershawn Wharton after his offseason departure.
Defensive Line Depth Becoming a Concern
Norman-Lott’s injury leaves the Chiefs notably thin up front, with limited options beyond Jones and Derrick Nnadi. Reports already indicated that Kansas City was exploring defensive line help ahead of the trade deadline, and Norman-Lott’s season-ending injury will likely heighten that urgency. The team has 15 days before the deadline to make any moves, and a short-term addition or veteran rental now seems increasingly possible.
Other Chiefs Injury Updates
Wide receiver Xavier Worthy briefly exited the Raiders game after appearing to aggravate his shoulder injury, but he returned to action—a positive sign for Kansas City. Running back Kareem Hunt also left the game momentarily after tweaking his ankle but reentered and finished the contest.
On the offensive line, Trey Smith and Jawaan Taylor both exited the game early but are not expected to miss time. Meanwhile, rookie left tackle Josh Simmons status remains uncertain for next week’s matchup after head coach Andy Reid refused to give an update to the reporters today.
